Pretty certain Austin will be targeting picks in this upcoming draft, particularly not having a 2nd or 3rd round selection right now.

Possible, but we still need picks for next year's campo boys

Saints will back themselves to finish higher, same us North, so both those clubs will want to use future picks

There will be teams around us working to improve their lists for next year, getting into this year's draft with at least 3 picks would seem to make sense, unless we are planning to use next year's F1st.

Gold Coast key forward Chris Burgess has informed the Suns he wants to move to the Adelaide Crows. Won the past two 'Frosty' Miller Medals in the VFL. More on

Depends how we rate the 2nd round + of this draft and what points we may need for next year

We could always trade into this year on draft night like last year

We can get picks next year from '25 if needed. Better to strengthen this year's draft hand.
You can use picks from '25, but then you're continuously playing catch up. When you're a club like us and consistently active in the draft/trades, you are going to have to sacrifice it for a more quiet off-season.

I'd much rather we stay low key this year, get the Campo twins next year, and keep our entire set of picks for 2025 to go big again.

Long term I don’t think Weitering alongside a bunch of tweeners (Gov, Marchy, Kemp) is enough.

I think we really need to persist with one of Young or Durdin at full back. Or go and recruit one. Weitering is versatile enough to play at CHB and playing on the 2nd tall should in theory make him better.

S.Durdin, Weitering, McGovern for me. Marchbank depth.

31 is not a solid pick when it ends up as 37
From the father/son and academy selections? If so, this comes up every year. Disregard those picks. They effectively don't count. You haven't really dropped six places in the draft if those players were never on the table to be picked.

I think it's Solid. Not great, Not good, just solid. Also depends then what we use it for? If its Hollands then I call it very solid and a lot of very good players have been picked up around that mark. Lachie Neale was 58. What did we trade to get Acres? Very Solid :thumbsu:

Pretty poor IMO & they’re talking one of the lowest draft intakes and a big drop-off in quality >8-10.
Granted we got bugger all for Setters last year but our dealing of players out needs to obtain better draft capital.

I'd be disappointed if both Fisher and Dow amounted to only Hollands.

I don't. Dow uncontracted and we want Fisher gone.

We got Acres for a Pick in the 50s. I actually think it's high given trades over last few years
And that's now seen as an incredibly poor trade by Freo.

Look, it's marginal - we're not talking first round picks. But I'd think that if we can engineer a result where we lose Dow and Fisher and gain Hollands and a pick around 40, it would be a reasonable result.

I don't. Clears money and allows us another pick. This is as much about SC and also number of picks NOT just where. We want spots for DFA, Rookies and Pre season

Happy to Bookmark this and revist when it happens

I thought you said our salary cap wasn't an issue, that we could even acquire Smith
