I don't. Clears money and allows us another pick. This is as much about SC and also number of picks NOT just where. We want spots for DFA, Rookies and Pre season

Happy to Bookmark this and revist when it happens
When you say we want picks. If we acquire pick 31 we will use that for Hollands. We lose for and Fisher and gain Hollands only

No. Salary Cap is fine but we are always planning ahead to have money for end of 2024. Not that hard

Well it's a tad confusing when considering this from yesterday

Think it might be worthwhile delineating what is rumoured and what is opinion

Not for me. Nothings changed. Seems very straight forward but keep trying :thumbsu:

We are in the window now. Not sure we should be waiting for 12 months to have more salary cap space. Sounds like our salary cap is very tight

Not trying a thing, just want to be clear, as yesterday cap wasn't an issue, where we could even target Smith, but now we have cap issues

Strange

And an 8 spot upgrade for Dow and a 3rd rounder for a guy thats been offered a 4 year deal + a 5th on triggers?

Unless of course North are paying all Fisher's wage, but that doesn't marry up with our cap being fine yesterday

Not passing the pub test for me, but let's see how it plays out

And it's not like we owe the Saints anything. If the offer for Dow is steak knives, then keep him or let him walk.

For perspective re Dow possible trade. Here are some trades from last year

Bobby Hill and Pick 40. GWS gets Pick 43
Carlton gets Blake Acres. Fremantle receives a future third-round pick. (Pick 55)
Gold Coast gets Ben Long and the Saints’ future fourth-round pick. St Kilda gets Pick 32.
GWS Giants get Toby Bedford. Melbourne gets Pick 44
Essendon gets Will Setterfield and Pick 68. Carlton gets the Bombers’ future fourth-round pick.
Melbourne gets Brodie Grundy. Collingwood gets Pick 27.
Collingwood gets Billy Frampton. Adelaide gets the Magpies’ future third-round pick.
Essendon gets Sam Weideman and Picks 57 and 72. Melbourne gets Pick 37.
Melbourne gets Lachie Hunter. The Western Bulldogs get the Demons’ future third-round pick.
Essendon gets Sam Weideman and Picks 57 and 72. Melbourne gets Pick 37.

Bloody Hard to get Picks under 35 for players that aren't best 22 these days. I want Dow to stay but I can't see us getting much for him

I didn't say today we have Cap issues.

Going by recent years I don't think the proposed trade for Dow and Fisher is that unrealistic. I hope we get more but suspect most on this board won't be happy with what we end up with. We probably need to look at the trade period as a whole before we judge it as a fail though (you win some you lose some).

It's funny. It seems like these days unless it is a star being traded or a high draft pick in their first couple of years, players often get traded for stuff all. It is either one extreme or the other. Pretty good value for clubs trying to pick up players to fill those last 6-8 spots in their 22 as they usually only have to trade a 3rd or 4th rounder which is well against the odds to net a 100 gamer in the draft

I don't. Dow uncontracted and we want Fisher gone.

We got Acres for a Pick in the 50s. I actually think it's high given trades over last few years
This is the direction the trade value of fringe players is going.
Player gets to choose new club, old club facilitates a deal and moves on.

We have offered him a contract, I get that the pick won't be great, but Dow and Fisher for Hollands?

I get that we will save some cap space as well, but apparently yesterday we had enough to chase Smith?

From what I know, we are managing our cap well, but not enough to target players at 600K+

That would very clearly be overvaluing Hollands, if North are offering Fisher a long term deal, we need to play hardball with them.

Is the Fisher trade less about cap issues and more about the fact we have a decent chunk of salary tied up in a player we don't see as best 22 and clearing it will give us more options over the next few years?

My take is we want spots. We will also try and bank some Salary Cap money to chase some key players at end of next season where I see us getting Campo kids and some key trades/FA's

But Fisher should be worth at least as much as Hollands. North have offered him a significantly bigger contract than we would offer Hollands. Twomey and Beveridge are pretty connected and switched on, and thought Fish should get North's F2, while Hollands should get done for a F2.

Dow should be worth a 3rd rounder. We've offered him a contract, Saints have offered him 3 years. Surely that puts him in range of Samo and Young, and also Acres (who we admittedly got for a bargain due to Freo offering an insultingly low contract). It's that sort of range, not a nothing pick.
