I like McDonald. I think he offers something different to Amartey & McLean (who each offer something different to McDonald as well.) More of a smooth-moving aerobic type, rather than a brute.

The three of them are perfect for the game we are playing at the minute.

If we like what Heeney, Warner & Gulden are doing (and I assume we all do?) then the way to maintain that is to not have a big power forward who will command the ball in the front half away from them.

Our forwards don't do this but rather work well to complement each other and the mids to give them ample opportunity, time and space to do their thing in.

As I commented earlier today, I think there's a chance this 'decoy' structure gets found out, and maybe then we're tested to see if we can rely on a forward to have a big game. But it's a pretty fool-proof structure that makes the chances of this happening very unlikely, and all three forwards have shown they can have big games on the odd occasion anyway.

It's great that Hamling's going well in the VFL and even better that we can leave him there and let him get better and better so that if the unfortunate happens and he's required, he'll be in the very best form possible.

Guess we know who will cop it when we lose next
McDonald kicks a record 20 goals in a game but we lose. Board won't know what to do

The focus the coaches clearly have on starting well I think is going to suit us well this week. We've been slow out of the blocks now for a while but this club has over the years tended to bunker down and take to travelling well. Taking an "us against them" attitude on the road has been a consistent part of how we have played away, particularly outside of Victoria.

I reckon the coaches will be driving a fast start very hard this week in hostile territory against a side that will be gearing themselves to give us a stern test. I'm sure there will be a bit of extra vigour after what happened late last year and the crowd will have convinced themselves that if not for that decision, they'd be flag fancies now as they rightfull ought to be. They're that delusional, Crows fans.

Will be a good test that I think we will pass in a tight one. Reckon we'll win by 1-2 goals.
Only need to win by a point.

I think it's interesting that we're 11-1, two games + percentage clear on top of the ladder, beaten much better sides with far more weapons than Adelaide, yet so much of the focus in here is about the Crows players we need to stop.
We're travelling so well and apart from one or two posters no-one thinks we need to change personnel or tactics so what else is there to talk about in the preview thread?

If hambling keeps it up in the 2s and Logan is down on form I think he deserves a shot 💯.

I don’t see the issue if he is dropped and out of form at the time

I assume you mean Hamling? If you do, they play different forward roles. McDonald is playing very high at the moment. He actually has a great tank and is a great field kick too. That stretches the defence. Hamling is playing more of the Amartey role in the 2s.

I really hope you write all of these down for posterity. You could publish it as a beer guide!
All 6 countries are Muslim majority but the supermarkets are full of vodka. Beer is mostly imported except in Uzbekistan which has the population to support a cigarette factory and a brewery. Vodka everywhere. Most expensive was $18. Cheapest $2.00. 3 full rows in the supermarket!

Danger Umpiring Game, the local bias exists in footy states and in WA, maybe just for the Eagles.

Crows at Adelaide Oval 2024

R2 +9 Lose by 19 to Cats
R4 +12 Lose by 15 to Demons
R6 -4 Lose by 3 to Bombers
R8 +5 Win by 30 to Power
R9 +3 Draw with the Lions
R11 -6 Win by 99 to Eagles (U helping WCE)
R12 +10 Lose by 8 to Tigers

+29 and the -6 versus the Eagles is normal in a thumping.

With huge numbers of Crows frees they lose by 19, 15 and 8 against Victorian clubs. Bombers game is an outlier.

If one of our key forwards is carrying a niggle or suffering exhaustion, I have no problem with bringing Hamling in for a week or two to cover for him.

And given that if we win this week we’ll have the luxury of a three-win buffer, I have no problem with bringing Hamling in for a couple of rounds just to sound out our depth for the business end of the season.

But otherwise…. big nah.

The system is demonstrably working very, very well.

The ultimate in AFL is to win a flag. I hope we win one this year or next year.

But if we do win one, there’s nowhere higher to go.

We don’t get a bigger flag because we won most of our games by 70 points instead of 30.
