The age phantom draft, not really any needs filled with the players picked and it could be a matter of bad research/not understanding the list

Is Hotton coming back from an ACL? Not that keen on him not because of that but due to him being Vic metro and what happened to his brother and why he didn’t make it in the afl
For Oli Back injury in his first year and #35 and not sure on how many games this year
Although Taj maybe a talent he does scream go home factor to me and I haven’t seen any interviews with him and will wait until draft night and see
This could be the year the club looks to trade the next years 1st if they are keen to move up the draft with how highly this year is rated and would be good to pick Travaglia if the club does work out a way to get high enough
Keen for a trio of TT, Lindsay, Shanahan, Smith and a speculative pick in the later rounds or before Smith depending on bids

For a lot of prospects the idea of moving is extremely daunting to begin with, but as they go through the year, meet more clubs, hear more pitches about how the move works, get sold on the independence they'll get, so on and so forth, they'll generally open up to the idea more and more, hence he, and others, are certainly more receptive to it than they previously were

Gives Richmond 1,2,10,15,18, 20,24 I think.

The talk of us rejecting pick 3 for 15 & 16 came from WA journo Ryan Daniels who normally has very good Intel with the wa teams. So would seem we have little interest in moving up and if other rumours are to be believed we are not looking to move up, but instead open to splitting first Rd picks for later pick and having as many shots in top 30 of this draft as possible.

Ok so I’m certainly no expert on this years draft, frankly the end of the season really rocked me and I’m still getting over this wasted year.

That said I’ve had a little look at some videos and profiles and also the perceived order and from what I have gleaned we need to trade up.

It looks to me that the part of the draft where our picks are is where a lot of the talls are speculated to fall and all of the elite mids (barring perhaps Lindsay) are gone. I don’t think talls are a priority for us, we are well stocked there.

We are in the window and we have some aging stars so I think we need to be a little bold. I’m not satisfied with our mids and we still have our most promising one unsigned in Callaghan with rumours growing by the day he might head home.

I think realistically St Kilda are most likely to give up one of their picks and I think we should do a deal.

If we got one of those picks we would secure one of the better mids. I don’t think we should trade up necessarily for Lindsay, I think we should trade up and take best available.

Is that Murphy Reid? From the tapes he finds it and distributes beautifully, that is the kind of guy we really need.

I don’t know PMB, GS and others know better but I think this isn’t a year to sit pat as we have to address gaps.

To me, although he has a slight build this kid Murphy Reid is a potential AFL star.

He just looks to have 360 vision, deft touch by hand and foot and always seems to take the best option.

He has composure, something really lacking with some of our guys. I love him, trade up and get him!

Xavier Lindsay, Bo Allan and Finn O'Sullivan are really the only two I'd be actively trading up to get for us, FOS will go top 5 (which we won't be able to trade into) but Lindsay and Allan should be there at Saints picks, if they don't take either for themselves.

Interstate clubs are cautious of Reid as a potential 'go home' risk, and frankly I wouldn't want to be essentially spending two picks in the region I'd rate him to take him higher even if there wasn't that thought.

I think midfield has to be the focus this year and next. I think if best 2 or 3 available at our picks is a tall, be prepared to slide back/ into next year ( eg accept 21,37 for 25, F1 if somebody offers that).
Take a midfielder at 25.
The only reason not to target midfielders is if club is very bullish on Gothard Leake as midfielders. Some at the club will be pushing this perhaps?
I think this year we did have for once a better than average year with injuries, we just had to not play Cogs and not have 3 players play 70% gametime in the Brisbane game.
Having said that, perhaps Kingsley " knew " our backup midfielfers where just not going to be as impactful as needed, hence Green and Co played a bit too much in first3 qtrs and hence got tired in last qtr.

I think a 5min lowlights video would tell you more about an kid than a highlights video. Unfortunately nobody makes these. Our drafting team has the runs on the board, they know what they are doing. We also are dealing with factors that Melb clubs are not, so moving up could be a waste of time. No point selling what we have to draft another Caldwell, Bruhn etc.

We got a fair bit back for both those guys and in the case of Caldwell they through a stack of cash at him.
I don't view either of those as poor draft choices.

St Kilda has signed Jack Carroll on deadline day of the delisted free agency period.

The former Carlton forward was cut by the Blues this off-season following 21 AFL games, with 15 of those coming this season. St Kilda Executive General Manager of Football David Misson was thrilled to announce the acquisition of the West Australian.

“We’re pleased to welcome Jack to the club,” Misson said via a statement. “There was a lot to like in Jack’s performances this season and we believe he can bring an added layer to our midfield mix. Jack’s got great leg-speed and at only 21 we believe his best footy is still ahead of him.”
