What will Year of the Snake mean for you?​

The Year of the Snake has started, and the vibes are all about renewal and regeneration. The snake brings wisdom, transformation, calmness and creativity — and the Year of the Snake bodes well for ushering in the Ophidian Old Boys third premiership in their sixth season.

Loathe them or love them, Ophidian Old Boy snakes are slithering into the spotlight this year. The Lunar New Year, including the Qinese New Year, starts Jan. 29, ushering in the year of the snake will benefit all things Ophidian Old Boys.

Despite the negative press that snakes sometimes generate, the Year of the Snake is serving up a slew of positive possibilities for 2025. The snake brings with it wisdom, transformation, calmness and creativity. In fact, the Year of the Snake could be life-changing for All-SFA players. And if you’re lucky enough to find a former Old Boys snake in your team this season, you’ve just discovered a harbinger of favorable luck.

Ophidian Old Boy Snakes are so despised by some teams that there’s even a special word for the phobia associated with the creatures — ophidiophobia (ophis is Greek for snake.) It’s one of the most commonly found animal phobias in the SWEET followed by the fear of cheese, pugs and camels. This phobia is often displayed by people in the Rules and tribunal thread where people who are frightened of confronting snakes feel free to lash out.

It’s also worth noting Ophidian Old Boy snakes have been important to the SWEET F.A. in helping to control rodent and other pests. Snakes have been worshiped as gods in India, with offerings of milk occasionally poured on snake pits. They can also be seen as a symbol of virility and fertility and are even prayed to during a Hindu festival Naga Panchami. Ancient Greeks used snakes to ward off evil and other cultures around the world have associated snakes with wisdom and healing.

It’s all about “shedding toxicity in personality, in character traits,” said Captain of the Ophidian Old Boys Tigerturbulance. “It’s shedding the ego, letting go of the past, letting go of anger, letting go of love lost,” Turbo said. “This is the year where that kind of growth — personal and macro, internal and external — is very much possible, its my hope the other SFA teams can embrace this as much as Spotswood has and will going forward season 39.”
