Hardness in defence is my boy's power.Definitely a lot of positives. Caddy, Perkins, Kako. Draper looking strong
I still don't see what Jaxon Prior brings to us though.
No chance we kick that accurately again this year. Usually 2.17.
Beating Geelong in a pre season game at the cattery?
Woke up this morning still flabbergasted
Yeah, Prior was good. Agree, Shiel back is looking great and it allows Martin to play mostly forward.Watched the replay. Wow. So much promise.
Intent to run from half back was great. Even Rids now that Reid and McKay are together. We need Hayes. Good insurance.
Kako has so much Walla! Great addition and already the forwardline looks better. Menzie is gooorne.
Hobbs got plenty of it but needs to work one-to-one with Rath. Some of his kicks were blergh. Same with Duursma, who was filthy with himself. He'll respond.
Tsatas was great, though I missed seeing Duz at CBAs. Caldwell was great early. Not sure when he left the ground but he tore them up when he was on. Did he get injured?
Down turn in the middle was commensurate with Bryan taking the ruck, but I thought he played his way into the game and got better as it went on. Seemed to have outrun De Koning by the end? I thought he was good around the ground.
Sam Draper played like a mature person, which was great to see. And he's fit. I reckon he'll have a career best season.
Caddy was great.
Andy in the middle was better than Andy used to be in the middle. It'll be interesting to see how long that lasts before we start demanding he stay in the backline again.
I reckon Shiel in the backline is a masterstroke. We'll get the best of him, others get mid rotations, he's calm in traffic and will be able to set up a lot of line breaks from the back. I thought he was awesome. Felt much more assured when he had the ball or was contesting. Sorry Hepp.
Reid looked so comfortable last night. Fingers crossed. His kicking is lovely and was understated by the commentators. I love that he releases Ridley and absolves McKay from needing to kick. Win win.
MY BOY JAX PRIOR IS AS HARD AS A CATS HEAD WITH A HELMET ON. And his kicking is nice, too. Redman's spot is Prior's to take. At the very least we have a competent understudy.
Setterfield gave everyone a reality check, and really a lot of space for Tsatas and Hobbs.
Perkins was quite good. Geez he looks massive these days.
So pleased last night. Not sure if the Cats were half arsing it (definitely were in the 4th) or genuinely disorganised.
Bring on GC!
Yes, I forgot about those guys. Martin was awesome forward. Mobility in the forwardline helped Martin, Merrett et al get deep and accurate entries.Yeah, Prior was good. Agree, Shiel back is looking great and it allows Martin to play mostly forward.
One standout to me was ball movement in the backline was fast and accurate with little fumbling. Players spread very well for such a skinny ground too.
Jones was very impressive on the wing/forward and Dursma is as tough as nails albeit a little rusty.
Yeah, IMO Cox is at crossroads. Hopefully he can get through concussion issues. For mine he might make a better forward.Yes, I forgot about those guys. Martin was awesome forward. Mobility in the forwardline helped Martin, Merrett et al get deep and accurate entries.
Jones seems to have improved on the wing. I like that he just keeps getting up and back, and gives us good connection in the air. He's determined defensively at the contest as well. I think he looks better on a wing than Cox.
It's a bit of a worry for him. I agree. He's at a crossroads. Backline is better supported by Hayes. Forwards are better supported by Edwards (already!) Multiple options for the wings now, where does that leave Cox? Crossroads.Yeah, IMO Cox is at crossroads. Hopefully he can get through concussion issues. For mine he might make a better forward.
If he doesn't get on the park soon he may just be not built for AFL. Also, with CTE front and centre I am sure he is getting plenty of medical advice and in the end he has to consider his long term health.
Maybe but needs more strength in the contest IMO.It's a bit of a worry for him. I agree. He's at a crossroads. Backline is better supported by Hayes. Forwards are better supported by Edwards (already!) Multiple options for the wings now, where does that leave Cox? Crossroads.
He needs to produce some serious unicorn, but yeah, the CTE might get him.
Edit: Could he reinvent himself as a ruckman?
Yep. Too slight now. He recall he attended some ruck contests last year and looked okay.Maybe but needs more strength in the contest IMO.
I get the feeling that he might get overtaken with the ramp up in positional pressure due to an influx of ready players. Hope he can get there. I think the next 3 months will be telling.
Yeah, if he doesn't pull the pin but shows little improvement we might need to make a call.Yep. Too slight now. He recall he attended some ruck contests last year and looked okay.
I think we're selling a unicorn at year's end.
when in the F was the last time we won both practice games?
