I don't particularly mind but it would have been more democratic to elect the 8th board member at the 2024 AGM rather than saving it to be filled through a casual vacancy.

Didn’t realise we expanded the board to 8.

Always assumed it was limited to 7 directors including the President, unless this was a part of the constitutional reforms in the last year or two.

You'd be a tad annoyed if you were one of the two losing candidates from the AGM election. But it sounds like Sims has come on to fill a particular role. He will have to stand for election at the next AGM, so no biggie.

Interesting that our constitution allows for "7 or 8" directors.
