After the 2007 national draft, when his contract expires at his current club.
Now right now, I am not at liberty to say whom this guy is, but suffice to say I am thrilled that we've managed to have lured him away to Carlton, and that on the basis of the young players he has brought to his current club in the last 3-4 years, he would be in the top two best recruiting managers in the country. I heard this from a very reliable source, and I think you can take it as gospel, but clearly there won't be an announcement I would think until after the draft.

I would say though that Gregg Swann was a major influence in convincing him to come to Carlton :), nothing more can be said until after the National Draft.

The club is really going for a massive restructure and overhaul of their recruiting dept, and a lot more money and resources are going to be spent on getting more assistants/and aides to the club (gone are the days where you can just rely on one recruiting manager to scout for a club, there are just so many comps and games going on around the country) and the club sees recruiting as another major priority in rebuilding the club.

Also I think most assistant coaches, apart from Crosisca will probably be moved on.

Is the recruiter from one of these clubs?:
West Coast
Bulldogs
St Kilda
Port Adelaide
Brisbane Lions
I particurally chose these clubs because they all have highly rated recruiters.

He gave a massive hint in saying Greg Swan was a massive factor

Where did Greg Swan come from (initials CW)?

Do people rate the recruiter at Collingwood? I think Collingwood are very good at player development but i reckon there are better recruiters out there.

Gilly?

Goodbye Kreuzer. :( :p

Back on topic, we signed Shane Rogers just recently, so why would we sign another recruiting manager on top of Hughes and Rogers?

We already have two recruiting manages scouting and other scouts watching footy in every state.

Hughes has done nothing wrong with the past three draft and doesn't deserve to be replaced. Picking Hampson and Anderson from Queensland and the NT shows our scouts aren't just watching the big leagues.

Is it Kinnear Beatson? The man responsible for Brisbane's recruiting from 1997 to 2005 and now works at either Sydney or Adelaide IIRC.

Remember hearing a rumour like this a couple of months back and it was also said he wouldn't leave until after the 2007 draft.

Also I think it wasn't to replace Hughes but to come over and work in collaboration.

I would be very disappointed if Wayne Hughes was to be moved on. Some of his selections in the last 2 drafts will prove to be inspired choices for the Carlton Football Club. He deserves to see the fruits of that labour as he has done absolutely nothing wrong.

Perhaps it just his team being added to rather than moving him on ? Celtic Pride could you confirm or deny this part ?

I think you are correct TGR, I don't think Hughesy is being removed from his position. His vision in the past couple of years was a long-term one and he has taken risks by punting where he thinks the game is heading and where it will be in a couple of years and so has gone for tall/atheltic players. We'll see whether he got it right or wrong soon enough.

My understanding is that we are bringing somebody to the club to develop a strong working relationship with the Geelong Falcons in the TAC cup ;):p:eek:

Yeah Ross Young,Anthony Raso have been guns for us not to mention Hartlett and Russell and the rest haven't really showed a lot just yet but have a couple of years and Murphy and Gibbs are given at number 1.

Yes the players he's selected haven't exactly blown the competition out of the water as yet but that might not have been entirely his fault. And if you look at the players selected around Russell and Hartlett they're not exactly world beaters at the minute.

Spot on Gandaal, people really need to think through arguments and support them with facts......a bit like Andrew Bolt does.;)

Gilly,
What time do the knights play today? I went last night and Sean Rusling taken out of that draft (pick before hartlett) is a gem. Reminds me a lot of Brad Pearce on the lead, super quick but Pearce the superior kick.

Nah, Beatson has signed a four year deal with the Crows.
BTW I'm not that impressed with Wayne Hughes work btw, I think this guy's record, esp in the last few years has been very impressive, esp with his later picks.

Also the club is expanding it's recruiting dept and hiring more people in the dept (I mean there is no reason why the Blues can't hire this new person and not retain Wayne Hughes in some sort of capacity either)

The more resources and professionals you have in the recruiting dept, the better IMHO.
