Being at the game, the Carlton supporters were smug and full of themselves. Heard one supporter say "anything less than 100 point win is a loss". When they were 41 points up, they were high fiving themselves "Voss is a genius", "Richmond have another 2-3 spoons". I'm a realist - I love our club and I'm grateful for the 3 flags and I hope oppo supporters will one day win multiple flags and have that same feeling we do. So I'm here for the kids - and I love my club.

But the tune quickly changed - 2 goals 7 behinds in almost 70 minutes of footy.

Collingwood supporters are the experts on blaming everyone and everything except themselves when they lose. Add Carlton supporters. The love for their "brand" changed to absolute hate in the second half. They hate the umps, hate the coach, hate the players and we are just "lucky". While enjoying the comeback, I thought that with Q4 3:30 on the clock, they were still a chance, and WE needed them to kick a goal to get it back the centre. But the Carlton supporters were already leaving in droves.

One thing I did notice - While we were coming back, the bench rotations were Carlton 48 and Richmond 42. It is never like that - they are always 2-3 - maybe 4 in difference. We were not going to run out of legs - and we finished HARD.

This morning, I had the thought that our rebuild has direction and purpose. We are not a rabble - we have GREAT kids, good coaches and LOYAL veterans that are crucial in our kids developing.

Still have Balta, Gibcus, Lefau, Prestia, Young, Hottton, Ralphsmith, MRJ and Clarke returning and we will cycle in Smillie, Faull, Fawcell, Sims, McAuliffe & Ryan.

But the standard has been set. We will cop beatings as expected, but I think this year is all about getting games and development into the kids and ruining other teams' finals chances. Could not have started with a better team to beat.

Bolton is no big loss. Great player when he wants to be, but would go missing far too often. Unreliable in front of goal, undisciplined and inconsistent. A bit of a showboater too. He's the last type of player we need when we're rebuilding.
