Yeah, but we've probably cost ourselves an early draft pick and will miss out on all the good mids again blah blah. It’s interesting how yesterday’s results change the picture.
Adelaide are clearly running on top of the ground. Chris Scott said it in his press conference - “maybe Adelaide are just really hot”.
So now our r1 loss looks better and we’ve had a good r2 win.
And the Tigers got thumped so we’d be favourites for r3.
Pretty different picture to 24 hours ago.
Ebbs and Tides , Higgo's free was not there eitherAny danger the umpiring department can watch some vision of the treatment that Mitch Owens cops? Held, scragged, blocked at every contest and never a free.
Cameron holds Hill then gets a free for the jumper coming a cm away from the body when he doesn't out mark the smaller player. Even Cameron looked sheepish at getting the free.
Stocker added strength around the packs, and went he went off, the Cats got it a lot easier. Sharman or King would have got a few last night, so we did great for practically no key forwards..bugger Geelong.Yeah reading multiple articles starting with their injuries. Get absolutely f**ked. Our own injuries during the game (not to mention prior) were the reason the cats were able to get so close.
Spot on, I reckon Owens has been putting some work into sprints/ explosiveness....that could turn him into a seriously damaging player.
It's amazing how a good win can radically improve a Sunday morning.
Just heard Scott repeatedly praise us for our kicking skills. He even used the term "Harlem Globetrotters" in reference to our ball movement early on. I nearly fell out of my chair. I had to double check the scores to make sure I didn't dream the result.
Thought he might be hindered by his shoulder, but he was a F*&king bull in that forward line.
Still can't watch him kicking for goal though![]()
Good to see Collard get a taste of enjoying himself on the big stages. His first couple of games were pretty miserable.
I reckon he’s Charlie Cameron level good when he’s a finished product. Not as powerful a runner as Cameron but better (Freakish even) in the air.
we need Macrae getting as many I50’s as possible, he’s got that distinctive kicking action where he just places it to advantage. We haven’t had a player like that since Dal Santo.
Chris Scott said:"We couldn't get the ball forward enough, but when we did, they were able to bounce it out really quickly. It's obvious to everyone that their kicking skills at this venue are at a really high level. You need to have enough pressure on them to create a little bit of doubt. It wasn't just their kicking skills, we knew that was a threat, it was their ability to work their way out of any sort of pressure."
It can't be overstated how much that step up in class Macrae brings improves us.
Stocker and Clark were both major factors in the first half. Will be big losses next week, hopefully Clark pulls up ok today and Stocker gets over his concussion quickly.
