Gotcha. I thought it was more along the Cornes line of thinking.

Melbourne sitting so lowly is hard to fathom because their game is just putrid overall, but if they don’t talk publicly they can get back with it in context. You know what would be even more scary for them is if they were sitting at the top of the expected score ladder! Imagine not being able to kick goals and you’re making the most of your chances.

Ultimately it loses its effect the deeper you get into the season (by finals time it means nothing because you’re either scoring or you aren’t) and it really should be just a differential stat not result based, but for us it’s a big one because it reinforces that our games in good order and finishing off our work is the key.

For sure but let’s just say I didn’t need quantitative data to make that conclusion. Maybe worth it for other teams when you don’t watch the games but if expected scores were not showing us our game’s good and only finishing is off I would question their algo. We dominated the swans and Carlton from start to finish, had an extremely dominant quarter against the Dogs that should have iced the game and destroyed Port. At this stage I’m even willing to put down the Giants loss to a stuff up in training loads.

Just have a look at the Squiggle, it loves us at the moment as our defence to offense profile is so strong. Big game this Thursday though even a close loss probably won’t change the profile that much. Getting excited :)

If our defensive system holds up and we can keep teams in contest without much uncontested transition - this year is ours. It's a big if though. I'm hoping what we did to Sydney's ball movement and Port did to the Hawks holds at grounds wider and easier to spread the defence and kick through them than the Adelaide Oval.

I like the look of that Squiggle analysis - their current season prediction has us beating Geelong in the GF after knocking off Hawthorn in the Prelim :D That'd be some sort of dream.

The squiggle one is blowing my mind given the nature of what it is. The current rating is what I would have expected if we were finishing off our work.

The only Squiggle result I’m truly buying right now though (given how early it is) is GC not getting the love. 4 wins against the 17th, 16th, 15th and 14th teams from last year and they have the 18th team this week.

I’m not convinced it’s going to be anywhere near as easy to do to Brisbane what we did to Sydney. That game style of taking angles with uncontested marks is made for the Gabba. I don’t think they’re flying at 5-0, but I think it’s our first real test since GWS.

You have picked the other team the last two games in the pre match discussion, weren't they tests as well if you thought we would lose? Anyway if you are picking the other team as a superstition to help us win please keep it up 😃

I'm not confident either. But if I was a kicking control team, I would be worried about this weekend just gone and crossing my fingers that it was just down to the Adelaide Oval dimensions. And I wouldn't be happy that 15 metre kicks are longer than they used to be.

I like going into Oppo boards to read their thoughts but The Tigs board still remains a confusing cesspool of garbage. Theres no football talk it’s just sooking about the umps
Not so unusual given that there is not much footy going on at Tigerland.

I miss the days when they were Ninthmond though.
Sixteenthmond has no ring to it watsoever.

It’s primarily a crescendo of anxiety… I usually commence the week confident which dissipates by match day. I just tend to be posting that late tip this year which I haven’t previously. This week is entirely different because Brisbane are ****ing good and for some weird reason somewhat underrated at the same time.

If I had to tip I would tip a loss too, close one, the infamous honourable loss. But leaving us with some hope that with Houston and Schultz and maybe others back we’d compete better in a rematch. But again our defence is doing so well so far we’re still very well placed to stuff up the opposition’s preferred way of playing.

I get very anxious as well, I do feel like this week is a bit of a free hit because I'd be fine with 4/2, obviously still want to win but maybe I won't be as nervous, I'm sure that will change by Thursday though

Brisbane don't use a tagger. They will back their midfield in, and rightly so. If Nick doesn't get a tag, we'll always be in the game. I'm fairly confident about this game.

I’ve felt that as well, but then the curiosity of AD hits where anything can happen. I mean on form we should have won all of them back to about 2016 except 2021 and it definitely hasn’t followed that script.

What gives me hope for this week is manic’s point on Nick, but they can win from anywhere so there shouldn’t be anyone with OTT confidence of victory on their deck. They have this 2011 Collingwood belief about them currently which will be hard to crack. I just hope we’re their kryptonite.

Edit: manicpie you seem to be exuding more of a quiet confidence.
