Part of the issue with his perception is that he is very unobtrusive. He moves, marks and kicks smoothly, without errors, and is not demonstrative. We tend mainly to notice errors, or extreme brilliance. If you rewatch his games with an emphasis on observing him, in particular, his smooth and totally consistent skills become much more apparent.
Unobtrusive - word of the day.

Describes Cumming well.

You're talking like you know what his standard is, as he literally hasn't played for two years, whatever his standard is now remains to be seen.
You clearly know nothing if you don't think he has played for the past 2 years...

Rather have him than not. Massive upgrade in quality over Jones. If he can get his disposals up into the 20’s it would be nice as he is quality. Let’s not forget the getting Cumming also helped us to get Peatling.

I was a bit underwhelmed by he and Peatling's starts to the year for us (ANB hit the ground running) but I think both have begun to find their feet. Think someone's already said it, but he's on upgrade on some of our other wing options.

He's probably an upgrade on our half back options too.

Still think a shift back there would be beneficial, gets more of the ball back there and that's only going to be a good thing for us.

No complaints from me. All 3 of our trade / FA acquisitions last year (ANB, Peatling, Cumming) have been pretty good in my book. All 3 are definitely in our best 23, so we can't really argue that they haven't improved us as a team. And in the case of Cumming he cost us nothing but a bit of salary cap. He's not going to win the Brownlow, but we don't need him to.

100%. Cumming is excellent in his composure and disposal, may not get lots of ball but will use it really well. The other two have been competitive beasts and have ability. Great work in the off season.

If we didn't have him on the list we'd be playing Chayce Jones. And there would have been the risk of us playing both Jones and Sholl

He's not a top 5 player on the list but he's a huge upgrade over Jones and Sholl. Tougher in the contest, better in the air and a much better user
Nothing wrong with Chayce Jones contest and toughness, in fact they are 2 of his better attributes.

Gee shows our desperation offering that record a long contract after we missed lukosius but at least we had a plan B and no point having unused cap space.

I'd be keeping quiet about the Lukosius deal if I were you, hardly a deal to be beating your chest over for you guys.

Strange hill to die on, IMO as long as his hamstring issues remain behind him he's looking to be a great pick up especially given his cost was only salary cap.

You're related to 119others? He likes to call crows supporters port supporters too.

I didn't think we needed to go all out for lukosius but we certainly wanted him and no point pretending he wasn't out first choice, probably if we got him we still get cumming but miss peatling.

Hardly dying on it, was just making convo besides you'd be the last to be pointing fingers on that tbh. Was kinda shocked he's only played 3 years of footy in his career so far at his age, let's hope the next 6 are smoother sailing!

Surely we kicked the tyres, as soon as the reverse salary dump concept was floated we walked away.

Power took on the player, the salary dump and gave GC a first on top, was a little weird.

My mistake 1 year, he's 27 this season so whatever he is now that's it, maybe he just can't play a wing. Got ourselves a 6 year hbf 😃
Or maybe you don't actually know much about Cumming...

Cumming to HB and Milera to the wing?

Gets Cumming more involved and a bit more run and carry from defence and Milera hopefully maintains his current output.
Doesn't harm to mix it up.

I have no evidence apart from casual observation, but it seems to most players impact genuinely starts after their second preseason at the their new club

There are a few exceptions. And there are players who never "gell"

It was interesting listening to Barrass talking about how hard he was finding it adapting to Hawthorns game plan in his first preseason after moving. And he's no dummy

Eh. Past has shown that the further up the ground Milera plays, the more lost he looks
