Anzac Day record over the Bombers is now 18 wins, 10 losses, 2 draws. We dominate this fixture now.
Crazy that since 2009 the record is 11 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw.

We really are a spoilt lot.

Review of Essendons second/third quarter runon

First goal from a terrible Howe fumble
Second goal from a terrible Kako shank that luckily ended in an Essendon mark.
Third goal from a Nick D brain fade allowing himself to get gang tackled in a clearance
Fourth goal to Perkins with actual legitimate good play.

And in the third quarter to hit the front….
Legit goal to Caddy
Legit goal to Kako

After their six goal to one run at five minute mark of q3 I think they only kicked one or two more goals for the match

they have a super average small forward brigade including mini Lenny Kravitz (Kako) and Perkins

that young buck Jeremy Howe was pretty solid today give him a run and see if he can make it as a hybrid defender

Have not seen the replay but from the ground Pendles should’ve kicked rather than putting Nick into that position by hand. 20/20 hindsight of course, and Nicks gotten out of those positions before unscathed and been super damaging from that type of play - so not holding it against either.

Heading to the game day thread during the second quarter.
I didn't visit the game day thread at all, but I definitely lost my shit during the abomination that was the second quarter.

Even though we won, not playing Cox was a mistake imo. The aerial battles should have been our strength but they were our weakness. I have never seen McStay / Checkers dominated like that.

Ned Long I thought was superb. We are such a better centre clearance team when he is in there. Sidney was also superb.

Nice bounce back in the second half from Bobby. Really pleasing to see. McGrath is a tough opponent but Bobby had some nice moments.

Great effort from Membrey and Elliott to carry the load.

The lowlight was the Lipinski holding the ball in the last quarter. You have Nick Daicos calling for the handball - give him the bloody ball especially given the area of the ground. Wake up Bro.
Cox wouldn’t have made a difference, he’s easily out manoeuvred when the ball is delivered like it was today. The issue wasn’t our forwards it was our ball movement.

Either way he’ll be back in for the foreseeable future with McStay injured, so at least his fan boys will be happy.

Great win again. We are a very cohesive team so far this year reminiscent of 2023 when ins and outs and up and downs in form never really disrupted us. Have to admit I’m still getting used to winning by decent margins😜.
It’s nice.
Hoping Dan’s injury is on the lesser end of the scale. Go Pies.!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. Steele Sidebottom 😲😀

i don't think he trusts his kicking anymore and fair enough he had a couple ordinary turnovers by foot

if you told me last year Steele would win a anzac medal i would ask you what drugs you were on he was that far gone at times last year the turnaround has been sensational

Nick had a handball option over the top and we know he’s super quick to execute usually.

Anyway my point is that Essendons run was not just of their own doing.

I was pulling my hair out in that 2nd quarter. Everything was working their way.

Even Hobbs’ goal was just a throw on the boot.

Just thinking about today….it felt a low intensity game.
As have our last few.

We actually remind me of Glen McGrath over the past few games.

Just cruise in, bowl low 130s and hit a boring 4th stump line…over and over.

Others have pace and spin and generate highlights in patches.

Get to the end of the days play and check the stats….5/30 off 15.
It’s only then that you realise how good a day he’s had.
