People ought be much more offended by performative acknowledgements of Country for political purposes then they are by culturally respectful sharings of tradition.

I had a real issue with Albanese performing it for an applause that he knew was coming tonight. Didn't feel that respectful, felt like it was intended to get a cheer to get his speech off on a high note.

Not saying he shouldn't have done an acknowledgement - obviously he should've - but he didn't need to perform it.

What do you mean by "perform it". You've said he should have done an acknowledgement, which he did. I am not sure how one might distinguish between what he said and any other way of giving an acknowledgement.

Both Penny Wong and Anthony Albanese's acknowledgement of government were a slap down to the racists in the Liberal party, who, inspired by neo-Nazis, thought they were on the ascendancy.
