Honestly I think it’s coincided with Darcy’s injury. He’s now been given more freedom to push hard forward and use his aerobic strength all around the ground against other ruckman.

I think when Darcy is playing, Tim becomes a little too aware of not trying to get in the way of the key forwards that he became a little hesitant with his natural instincts.

I’m sold on Khamis being best 22 this year. He’s the 6th tall option (that’s my preferred structure) that can play at either end and can give ruck chop outs against the weaker ruck divisions.

Imo Naughton is currently in the worst form of his career. He just seems unable to mark the ball at all. He's getting hands to them but just can't even take the easy ones. Not sure if he had a hand issue or what. Last year even when he wasn't marking it, he was still impacting games with his attack on ground balls and physical presence. We are getting none of that from him at the moment. I rate him massively as a player but right now he's not giving us anything. I'd be tempted to swap him out for Gardner until he figures out how to contribute again.

Amazing performance last night, positives everywhere except goal kicking but you'll take that win every day of the week.

Poor Arty, was looking really good early and will have to work his way back into the team again after the bye. A switch may have flicked for him after 3 of his best VFL games and then looking really solid in that first quarter where sometimes you don't even notice him out there. Hopefully he makes his way back in and we see if he risen to another level and stays in the team.

So 11 score assists and two goals (could have been 4) while being the sole key forward isn’t enough for you?

Every time the ball went to ground in our front half in the first quarter, the Bombers sh*t themselves. Jones was a part of that, some of his pressure acts were great.

Hopefully after having had half a season getting used to hitting other targets, when Darcy comes back they’ll share it around a bit more.

I think in the late stages of a tight game (particularly a final) Darcy’s marking could be critical. It’s nice to see how we’ve adapted to a stretch without him and without Bont earlier, but come the pointy end…

Yes, in a perverse sort of way, maybe those injuries will help us in the long run.

Not for Gardiner at all. But if he doesn’t improve he will be making way for Darcy.

Definitely not playing up to his level and out of form, but he's still contributing in a number of difference ways positively. Bringing the ball to ground, assisting others to score, blocking the #1 KPD to allow Buku or others to mark inside 50.

Swapping him for Ryan Gardner is... no sorry...

Nah, over reaction. Dropped a few marks and missed an easy shot. But otherwise contributed strongly.

Sure. But then when he does get a perfect kick he still drops it.

The guy used to have some of the strongest hands in the game. What happened? He's currently a shadow of what he was at his peak. I love the guy but it's crazy how out of form he is right now. Credit to him that he still keeps fronting up and giving 100% effort but we really need him to remember who he was.

Poor Richards was forced to take matters into his own hands/feet and bury one into his chest. Naughts woke up this morning with the laces indent between his pectorials.

His marking is the big concern. He missed a couple of very straightforward overhead marks last night. His contested marking ability has completely deserted him but you can’t be spilling the uncontested ones.

In his defence, I do think he gets far worse service than he deserves. He so often leads hard only to have the ball kicked over his head.

I don’t think dropping him is the answer. There nobody even remotely capable of filling his boots for a start.

I wonder if this is just a game day thing or if he’s struggling to hang onto them in training. It’s such an odd one because his hands have been so sticky up until now.

We definitely need Naughton to take some more marks, he seems to have iron hands at present. He is still working hard and providing support to the team but his marking is not what we should expect as a key forward. We will need him to clunk a few more marks and kick straight against the Cats who have a very tight defence, particularly on the cat litter.
