What should we offer west coast for judd?

I would prefer that we leave Judd to teh Blues. Big name recruits struggle to live up to their past reputations. Without wanting to sound like the great Sheedy; just look at the past. What if Judd goes the way of Hawker, John Pitura, Neville Fields or Merv Neagle - they weren't as good for their second club.
Gumby could be our next TD! Keep him.

yeah they cant be delisted but can be traded.

im thinking jetta and pick 6 for judd, jetta is 'apparently' homesick, west coast get a potential gun midfielder and another crack in the first round of drafts, i wouldnt want to offr any more then that.

What 18 year old wouldn't be homesick moving across the whole country? Offering Jetta would be absolute bollocks - He moved his whole family to Melbourne just to play for Essendon and we're gonna say "goodbye" after just one year? No way champ, Jetta is something special.

Trading away any one of Gumbleton, Ryder, Jetta, Houli, Hislop, Reimers would be just insane.

That would something along the lines of West Coast offering pick 6 and Mitch Morton for a 24 yo James Hird

Re: We Can Afford Chris Judd

I wasn't trying to imply that Ryder wouldn't be in the Weagles best 22, which he no doubt would.

The context of my point is that if I were the Weagles list management, considering my premiership window is still wide open, I would be lobbying for a ready-made key forward ala Lucas, Fevola

Re: We Can Afford Chris Judd

Why the hell are we arguing about what positions Ryder could play at WCE when he won't be leaving our club!

how about, trade Lucas to the doggies for pick 5 and there third round, ontrade pick 5 to west coast to with pick 6 and receive judd..

True enough, but James Hird at 24 hadn't just stated that he's definitely leaving.

This is going to be a trying few weeks on boards like this.

There was talk this morning on the radio that now that Judd has left Cox and Embley don't want to be at the club because of the happenings going on at WC over the past year. What would it take to get a package deal with Judd and Embley done.

I know for a fact that is bulldust.

Dogs wouldn't take that deal. If we did get pick 5, we wouldn't trade it. It would be a lot better than getting Chris Judd because you get a crack at the brightest young talent in Australia

The brightest young talent in Oz football is Chris Judd.

They can be delisted as well.

Any player can be delisted, but if they are under contract you must pay them out.

Jetta isn't homesick.

what because jetta says on radio he isnt homesick then he isnt??????????? pffft what else would he say.

and hmm im confused about the delisitng/trading ruling, i sure that that after a player signs a contract he cant be traded or delisted after one year, wasnn on this the chriss heffernan rule? fill me in on this longy

Wow a lot of people willing to seel off a good part of the future for one player with a dodgy groin .
Yes Judd is close to or is the best player going around but selling the foundations of the future side is not a great idea. We have started rebuilding our list in the last two years and now people want to trade away most of the good work ? If we strat trading away Ryder or Gumbleton then who is Judd going to kick it to in the future ? If we sign him up for big money who else do we lose in a couple of years when we cant fit them in the salary cap ?
All i can say is im glad some of you are not in control of our list managment. Too blinded by the feeding frenzy to really think about what we would have to give up and what ramifications it would have in the future.

Given most of his close family is over here and one of his best mates , Ryder , is at the same club i dont think it is hard to belive he is not home sick.

jetta is going to be something special? whlst i agree with you i think he can be something special too but its still a maybe? and what kind of special is he going to be, is he going to be as special as chris Judd? you have to give something to get quality, i wouldnt have mentioned jetta if i didnt think he had ability, its a better deal then offering johns or bradley thats only good on our behalf, in negotiations u have to make both clubs feel they have a win win situation, gone are the days when u ca trade ridley, delaney, kickett and whoever else for priority pick 1 (maty lloyd)

your talking about acquiring one of the best players to have graced the game, it doesnt get much better as midfielders go then Chris judd, 190cm and the way he run his latter year will be in the forward line.

as for salary cap problems, i have thought about this, either fletcher, lloyd and lucas will be on the veterans list, and in 3 years time they will be either gone or about to so it shouldnt really effect us too much.

With Hird retiring, and Lloyd I believe being eligible for the vets list next year we should be able to put a competitive salary package forward. I agree with you about the cost of getting him, good as he is, you don't to mortgage your soul for him. I'm less concerned about his injury.

Re: We Can Afford Chris Judd

Agree with SOT4.

Giving Judd such a deal will result in us possibly losing some of our young players due to not having enough to pay them when they ask for more.

It would be stupid to offer him a 5 year deal anyway because he'll be 25 next year and is very injury prone.

injury prone?????????? have a look at this i think, yes this year he got an injury that has hampered him but up until this he had won a brownlow a premierhsip and played in anoher grand final, i doubt he missed too many games in that period, infact i had him in my supercoach last year and i think he missed maybe 1 or 2 games.

Gumbleton, Ryder, Jetta, Hislop, Houli and Masten/Palmer/Ebert should be off the table. Don't want Judd, we're rebuilding... let's rebuild properly. An injured Judd isn't our long term answer, developing our youngsters is.

Lucas and Lloyd are there to help with the progress of Gumbleton, Ryder and Neagle. Not to mention they're also our best 2 forwards. So let Carlton or Richmond pay through the roof for Judd.

If Judd has surgery and is good to go, he is the answer.

I would much prefer Judd, arguably one of the best in history by the ripe old age of 24 to taking a stab on the fact that pick 6 or someone like Houli / Jetta / Hislop will answer our midfield problems. This is a once in a lifetime chance to get the best player in the league at his peak.

Aside from Ryder, Gumbleton and Davey, I reckon all players are fair game.

I think that Ryder, plus Essendon's pick 1 and 2, would suit West Coast.

I am not yet convinced that Ryder will be a superstar, but I am convinced that Judd,Stanton,Watson will form a great trio.

Essendon have Lloyd Lucas Fletcher Micheal to hold down the key posts.

The Bombers should go hard for Judd, and if it means forgoing a player like Ryder, so be it.

Plenty might disagree, but Judd is a freak and the Essendon midfield is not stellar.

So because they may want to go home we best trade them now

Tell me Ant555, where did I say that? I happen to agree with the majority of people about not trading away Ryder, Gumby or Jetta. I just hope that they don't decide to want to go home in 6 years time. That's all.
