Just a diabolical team effort.

Coaches: clueless. Wouldn’t pay anyone in that coaches box a single cent. If even a single one of these guys holds their position next season, we’re screwed.

Players: TDK, McKay, Walsh, Weitering (~4mil tied up here btw) were a special level of garbage today. McGovern, Motlop, Saad not too far behind. Not going to call out any of the youngsters; can’t possibly expect them to perform when their leaders play like cheeks.

Cerra, Doch, Fog, Haynes and Ollie were ok.

And lastly, just the club in general. Complete bunch of losers hoping we can “do a Brisbane” and win the cup. I’ve never heard anything more delusional in my life. This is a 14th - 16th level team at best and whether we like it or not, the rebuild needs to start from now.

Hats of to GWS, came here without 3/4 best midfielders and put us to the sword. Quality outfit.
IT support staff deserve a bit of coin. Not once have I heard of technical issues in the box.

Very frustrating again

Won contested possessions by 40. Won inside 50s by 12. Even got decent games from some of our lesser lights.

Horribly, horribly let down by our on field leaders. They - not the rookie, the leaders - lost us the game with bad errors. Two in particular:

Weitering - maybe carrying an injury because otherwise it almost feels like he was attempting to throw the game deliberately. Gave away at least 5 goals from poor errors including two in a row in the last quarter when we had momentum that iced the match

Charlie Curnow. Needs serious microscope out on his fitness and efforts. He gets a free pass others don't but right now he is a) Mr Invisible after half time and b) literally does not lift a finger defensively. Oh and horribly horribly selfish with the ball too.

But also, TDK, Saad, Cripps, Walsh and McKay all also had bad moments. Hewett had a shocker (1 tackle?) but is allowed a bad week, I guess.

This is crop of players that is massively overrated, by Carlton supporters most of all. As a group they have never won 14 games in a season, never threatened a top 4 finish, yet all are close to the top paid player in the league at their position and frankly, they don't deserve it. They have seen off three coaches, and now seem to just be waiting out a fourth.

The positive is we are getting some games into young players. O'Farrell and Carroll are years off but are getting a good taste. Lord and Ollie Hollands were good, Motlop and White also did their bit. Might as well give them a shot.

Also good to see Docherty back in a role that suits him. I also liked McGovern forward - we need a mobile marking target and he at least hits packs hard (unlike Curnow and McKay who consider that below their pay grade). Young has tried hard but isn't the answer there.

In hindsight, we should have played two rucks against Briggs. TDK has struggled with him and other really big blokes. Not the difference, but still a thing.

Oh well, it looked like a lot of players were playing for the bye today and probably a few supporters who can use a week off too

I would just let TDK go.

Heck, I'd even push him out the door myself. Not anywhere near worth the price he demands.
Strip the list back and start again.

Too many players now that are not going to take us anywhere.

Motlop not AFL standard.

McGovern high maintenance (he is also probably the most Jekyll and Hyde player in the league. Practically personifies modern day Carlton. Has some amazing moments and other time becomes this REALLY stupid footballer that makes REALLY stupid decisions)

Acres poor ball user.

Docherty as good as he was today won't be involved in the next flag push.

Cripps too banged up.

Young not threatening enough for a permanent spot.

Evans desisted twice for a reason.

Fantasia and Williams made of glass.

And all the good ball users at this club are the ones always getting injured.

I want to see the young kids and inexperienced mob (Lord, Carroll, White, Binns, O'Farrell, etc.) get as many games as possible this year now because our development program too is a complete embarrassment. I am sick of the bottom six talk.

No more trading in C/D-grade rejects and has-beens. PLAY THE DAMN KIDS!!!

Are 6 tackles because you’re second to the ball?

You're right. You'd rather your small forwards don't lay tackles. You watched the game. Did he only make tackles because he was beaten in a head to head sprint? Fair go.

I have 4 take aways from today:

1. I felt the younger players were good today and most will get better

2. Trade Harry, freeing up money, and spend time on a couple of younger players for post Cunrow

3. TDK needs to make a decision and in the next week or so. It is affecting his footy, as it would anyone. His future is bright, but for now the indecision on what to do is affecting him.

4. Either sack all Assistants or Sack Voss, it is clear they are two forces going in different directions. In truth I have lost faith in Voss, especially after the last two weeks, 2 games we should of won, 2 games we have the talent and ability to of won

That list is our issue, not Weitering.

Weitering has enough credits in the bank to have a bad game or two…

Maybe, but since this is an autopsy thread for this game, the list seems out of place. Maybe List Management discussion?

We are Essendon and Stkilda unfortunately.
But it makes me sad because i just want to see Carlton and even Essendon doing well, i wanna go to a meaningful game with my sister at the pointy end of the season, i wanna feel what a Carlton v Collingwood grand final is like.
God its hard to support this team at times knowing a lot of that is very unlikely in the short to medium term.

I'm a little frustrated in the Motlop hate this time.

9 disposals, 6 tackles and a goal.

Durds meanwhile had 6 disposals, 2 tackles and not a ripple on the scoreboard.

I watched Mots carefully this week because he is copping it on facebook and on here. A poor kick, a dropped mark, but lots of heart and effort. I'm not sure why he's the only small forward singled out every week.

Normally agree with most of your views ODN but not here.

There are plenty of small forwards who show heart and effort and actually damage the opposition.

Even the goal he kicked - it was because he was lucky enough to be taken high. He otherwise dropped a mark he simply should've taken.

He isn't overly quick, skilful, silky, crafty, ++++. His pressure acts never amount to any real pressure. He doesn't create chances.

He simply doesn't possess any qualities you want in a small forward.

He just won't cut it. Yet we'll re-sign him for 3 more years.

Every club has a whipping boy. You're on the money from where I sit.

And before anyone mentions TOG% it should tell you what the coaches thought of their effort today.

But it's okay. We have a soft month ahead. He'll be electric.

Difference is Durds has had games this year where he's showed something, he's a small forward, he's going to throw up a stinker every now and again.

Motlop has had two good games in absolute drubbings against Norf and WC, and every other game he's had a stinker. This is becoming a pattern. If Durds keeps up this form he'll start to cop it too, don't you worry.

Can’t see why we wouldn’t, one of the few who doesn’t blaze away like a ****ing moron, works hard and has passion.

Id be giving HOF another game too.
I think he’s easily our best small forward. He’s got footy IQ and will clean up some of his work

I don’t see it with durdin or motlops although motlops at least tries and looks busy…skills let him down though …dropping chest marks is inexcusable at this level
