I remember a big media flare up when we accused Melbourne of playing Bruise Free football, but it would be the perfect description for this team. We're a "contested ball team", but we're the most bruise free version of that style. Need some players to do the hard stuff (Cincotta is one player who comes to mind who seemed to do the scragging I'm thinking of).

Leek Aleer was constantly in a tangle with our forwards off the ball, and the only one who was at least trying to stop him was Young - until for some reason we swapped him with McGovern, and Durdin was left to cover Aleer. It was bad coaching which exacerbated our lack of "enforcers".

I sit in Carltonians and had to tell someone who was allegedly a Carlton member to STFU today about Motlop.
The commentary was so out of line … yes he’s not not performing but there’s a line and so many here and at the ground cross it with impunity.
It’s one of the worst aspects of our fanbase. We find a whipping boy, and then suddenly everything they do warrants vile abuse to be hurled their way. Some of the disgusting things I heard from fans directed at Lachie Plowman and Lochie O’Brien would make your stomach turn

Yeah...nah. in the case of Motlop people absolutely lose their shit far too readily.

One hopes it's wholly football related.

He spent 80% of the game on field.

That’s 3 and a half quarters.

Did not get a sniff.

Back in the day, the runner would be out, off you go, sit on the pine, have a think about it.

He’s miles off it right now.

Go back to the magoos, run around, get hands on the pill & enjoy the game for a fortnight.

They are on average about 6 cans in... Mouthguards might be needed later

Should be a mandatory session tomorrow morning where a panel of bigfooty's finest minds tell them what they've been doing wrong.

With a hangover that'll be way more painful than a mouth guard training session

We should be more concerned b about the substandard effort being dished up by players on 3+ times his salary. Diabolical.

I agree with others that it is concerning that we have 5 players taking up a huge percentage of our cap, and a 6th wanting to join them, and none of those players are considered to be in the AA side at the half way point of the season. If you are not performing consistently up to your salary, then we have a problem. Cripps and Weitering generally earn their money. The other 4, not so much.

Yes but Harry was a key in two wins this year, and Curnow is a two time Coleman medallist and AA spots etc etc. BUT ... these types should be having high standard games 20 times out of 23 per season, and vote winning games at least 10 times per season. Two forwards with 3 Colemans between them, should be kicking a real bag once a month at least and be consistent in between that. Where are the bags? Where are the games where they are unstoppable?

Comfortable ... way too comfortable. No inclination to fight, to get down and dirty, to be the firestarter. Even when they do, zero football smarts to do the right thing at the right time.

Our cap is a mess because we put all of our eggs in too few baskets.

Time to let go of one or two baskets.
Do we get to talk Austin now...

Who did the long term deals.
Paid up enormous cash

What about the other deals, eg. Pitto. No only locking away cash, but list flexibility.

Sos had his flaws, but handed over in 2019, a cap with room to compliment the talent developing with Cripps and Murphy

Harry, Charlie, Jacob, Walsh

Harry and Walsh yes.

We were like bees to the honeypot all day which allowed GWS to get the overlap handball away.

It’s a simple mantra to instill to the players. Either the playing group are not following basic instructions or our coaches have got it horribly wrong. Either way is incredibly concerning.

I had a person turn to me
And said we are a chance , I said we are not Collingwood. 9 points down Collingwood make you nervous they swarm … felt like we never had a chance

I was at a Grand Final in the stinking mud at the MCG & we hadn’t kicked a goal going into time on in the 2nd quarter.

30 odd points down.

Wakkity whack.

Harmes, Bomba, Sellers & Jimmy had us in front 4 minutes later.

We were never headed.

I love this club.
