I think it’s a longer term directive to move forward with just 2 KPD.

We’ve long been missing a couple of medium intercept defenders to supplement the two keys. Cleary has been tried there recently.

Broad, Vlaustin, Stewart & Bergman are the perfect prototypes that we’re looking to fill.

I don't think it's the same kid. The kid you're thinking of is Jimmy Plunkett, who was in another Maxy Walker ad who was more of a redhead. Played for us and Carlton.

There'd be a lot of reasons, if a player thinks it's likely an interstate club would pick them up, they may want longer-term security, but if they know it's their last shot perhaps they wouldn't do that. Some clubs may ask a player to do it as it may deter them from being drafted elsewhere.
