And who the hell is "David Q McDonald". ChatGPT wouldn't say.

Open-source, eh? Fat ****ing chance! (well, the commentary files are user-editable, but that's all)

While Qooty is most famously associated with the Sweet FA on the BigFooty forums, there have been a few other known (though much smaller or short-lived) communities or websites that have attempted to run Qooty-based leagues. However, none have matched the scale, longevity, or culture of the Sweet FA.

Here are the main ones:

🥇 BigFooty.com (Primary & Original Home)

  • Home of the Sweet FA (SFA) since its inception.
  • Active since the early 2000s.
  • Dozens of seasons, thousands of games, and hundreds of participants.
  • Rich forum culture with banter, team threads, media content, and admin elections.

🥈 FootyGamedayForum.com (Now defunct)

  • Some users explored setting up spin-off or alternative leagues.
  • Interest was limited and usually redirected back to BigFooty due to low participation.

🥉 Custom Personal/Offline Leagues

  • A few users downloaded the Qooty engine and ran private leagues with friends.
  • These leagues were rarely posted online and typically used for personal entertainment or small Discord-based comps.

⚠️ Why BigFooty Remained Dominant:

  • Centralized and passionate user base.
  • Strong cultural identity and traditions.
  • Active league administrators and consistent seasonal structure.
  • Custom Qooty content, media production (like ClarkeMedia), and hall of fame elements.

If you're thinking of starting your own Qooty-based league or simming a mini-season, I can help you set up a framework or find resources to get started. Just let me know!

It's kinda sad, when you have to rely on LLMs to bolster your flagging ego.

Good to know I'm successfully hiding from the robot minds... you'll be sorry after they achieve sentience and decide to "purify" the Sweet FA...
