LOL, Nick had 19, 8 clearances, 9 contested possessions and 1 goal, with a massive potato hanging off him all day.

If that's a win for your dirge of a club, its no wonder you're on the way to West Coast territory.
lol. 5 from free kicks. hell even his goal was from a 70m penalty. 9 contested possessions isn't good by the way.

Minus about 4 of those touches that he got when he snuck on early into the half back line to get some easy ball when Langdon was off. 😆

1 of those 19 he got from having a finger graze his back. And he almost sprayed it on the full. I guess include that touch if it makes u feel better 😀

The 4 points is enough to feel ok. How about that 2023 final were we got absolutely walked over the line by the umps too? What a time to be alive

Giving away free kicks is an indication of shit tag job :smilev1:

This is how you expect Goody to treat you after a good rotation in the BF comments attacking a generational player for winning a tag and the game.

but he didnt spray it out on the full, did he? he kicked a point, and the winning margin was???

Suffer in your jocks.

lol even though everyone is lauding him for his good tagging job post game including the pies coach. Everyone except salty pies fans who saw little Nicky get owned by the All Duck, no dinner guy 😀
Well for Ed getting 4 touches and -5m gained is awesome. And his team got the result. The reunions will be lit

Not commenting on who won this match up specifically (I didn't see the whole game) but not sure this is the way to make a comparison.

If a full back holds a gun full forward to 0 goals, no one says "yeah, but did the full back have more possessions?". Langdon, as an average role player had the job of curbing the influence of one of the best players in the game - not to try and get more touches or score involvements. His success is determined by his ability to nullify the impact of Daicos.
this analogy would work if

A) Nick Daicos didn't kick a goal and have 19 touches and a bunch of clearances and missed a really gettable set shot
B) Ed Langdon wasn't normally a player who can have a big impact on this style of game
C) Collingwood's other mids that are easier to tag (Steele, Pendles) didn't tear the game up

I want the media to keep saying that tag worked because if going forward sides just sacrifice one of their mids to the altar of Nick and he still has that level of impact then we win the midfield matchup from the start of the game every round. (and he will get better and better at going forward and being unguardable for a tagger)

OMG

I mean, seriously? Even if we're to entrain this ridiculous juxtaposition, if a full back played on a full forward and the full forward kicked 1.1, had 19 disposals, 431 metres gained, 3 score launches, 8 clearances, we'd be saying he was the greatest full forward of all time.

as a midfielder, getting 90% tog, any player should really be getting 25 touches. For someone like Daicos who gives a lot of cheap 1-2 handballs that shoukd be closer to 28-30. 19, with several of those free kicks, is about 10 under what an inside mid should be getting.

lol more people hate Fly. the guy thinks he's some sort of philosophy King every time he talks.

Nahhhhhh, thats just your salty self bud. Your coach is a degenerate gambler and fulltime sook, who's let the best list your club has had in 70 years get away from him.

Fly's wholesome A/F, have fun celebrating a bloke who had 4 touches all week. See you again after the rebuild.

our coach has class, your coach is Goodwin....
I wonder if oppo supporters would be jerking off this aggressively over a tagging job if Sheezel or JHF was held to 19 touches and a goal? Wouldn’t even get a mention. It’s pleasing how much a 22yo player pisses everyone off that much they have to resort to calling him Nicky

that is what constitutes a win at Melbourne - a bit like expected score

Actually yesterday expected scores based on shot quality and position

Melbourne 75
Collingwood 66

Melbourne can thank Fritsch and Gawn for ****ing up in front of goal.

They'd be saying what a good job they did working through it, tagging is part of the game but Langdon had zero intent of even playing the game. Wouldn't even look at the pill and was a passenger, all that shows is fear of getting beat. The good taggers go both ways!

What’s Langdon’s excuse then for only getting 4 touches. That 3 percent of tog difference?

When did this rebuild start? Just asking for academic purposes for a "professor" friend.
It hasnt yet, it will start in earnest after they let their generational talents walk after years of mismanagement. Watching Clayton Oliver mongrel punt a ball into the 50 when he is clear and in space, with the game on the line, hurt my heart. Bloke should have been a champion but the dees have turned him into a meth head.
