Think Acres career at Carlton is nearing it's end after today's match.

Is he contracted for next year?

Acres is all heart, absolutely not the type to just turn his boots up cause he doesn't care.

Odds are he 's been told to take it easy given the battering he's taken over the last couple of seasons. Might be that surgery is an option soon and they're waiting on specialists, and in the meantime he can play out the year at a lower intensity, and offer some voice and direction at the same time.

We only had 2 players with 20+ disposals.
One of them isn't even AFL listed and came off the back of 18 marks! Well done Phillips and Billy.
A lot of other players simply don't work hard enough. Seems we still aren't fit enough after it being a particular problem for years.
Perfect game for Binns, Ben and Lucas to put their hands up for selection, and they all have below average games. I'd still give them a call up for body of work over a number of months and the fact they haven't been called up when they should've in the past.

Hogg and DGB did some nice things.

Yes for 2026 and 2027 lol like Marc Pittonet , Matt Cottrell. George Hewett as well as Patrick Cripps, Matt Carroll and Jagga Smith also signed until 2027

I thought Ben and Lucas were pretty good up against a really good team with Ben especially playing off a ruck who got smoked.

Lucas was great

Nothing in particular but 3 goals is 3 goals.
Did his role so to speak so more a case of if he was under consideration he wouldn't have harmed his chances.
Did also drop the mark after good body positioning on his opponent 20 meters out, then same spot should have been paid a free kick for a clear hold on him by the arm…
Could have kicked 5…

H listed 1-2 weeks on the injury report, may be back.
I guess the question for the remaining 6 games is, does a forward line of H, Charlie and Lemmey work? They'd each rotate to a half forward role throughout the game since all three can kick.

Obviously TDK either gets dropped or plays the lone ruck hand.

Three talls very rarely if ever works, but I'd be interested to see it considering the season is done anyway.

Lucas was great
Ben had 11 touches at 54%

Lucas 15 at 46%

Neither deserve a call up based on today. Ben has had a great 6 weeks leading up to today where he looked a bit tired. Lucas has had 1 good game out of 6.

They’ll both be on the list next year and I don’t think we’ll see either at the top level until then

That is not at all what i saw today in the VFL in terms of body language and effort. It was noticeable how little he cared compared to team mates putting in effort and running past him.

Good to see Kiddy Coleman too. I know he's not ours but genuine superstar in the making and want him back. Be good for the sport.
We had two chances to grab him before Brisbane pre-listed after a third ND chance at a bite.

I called for us to do it the first two times, just couldn't understand why our club wasn't trying to put the time when he didn't get drafted when first eligible.
I know hindsight is easy, but the fact we passed this guy over for insert poor small forward is such bad list management.
Both were bad choices, we should have been looking at DBG and Ramshaw in terms of internal choices, and maybe cast our eyes elsewhere. Our ability to scout is horrible at the moment, we can barely look past the Talent League, Champs, and VFL.
The knocks on him are simple - doesn’t have the athleticism or size to currently compete with AFL level forwards. Hes a good footballer, doesn’t have the physical traits (yet)
He's 25, they're not going to magically appear now. Hawthorn already tried, and we had a look in the pre-season.

Not point in singing his praises when we're sitting numbers back and they're kicking it into his area 40 times a match.
It's okay I was told all through the pre season that my observations during their draft year that both Campo twins are ordinary kicks was an optical illusion!
Lucas' kicking was rarely this bad last year, and he was fine in the pre-season. Our gamestyle ran him ragged, and he lost confidence and sprayed some kicks, then rebounded in the VFL until he was run ragged again and hasn't recovered.

That's how most running players go in our system across a season. Fix the culture and staffing issues that create that and he'll improve well enough. He's a smart player and every other aspect of his game is well above most first year players.
Revel is it? Holy smokes he’s a talent
Another academy player Brisbane just get to develop outside of their list. He's 24, and this is his second season. Queensland teams were shocking at exploiting this for years, but now they've got a veritable conveyor belt of players.

Other clubs need to start picking the eyes out of this, and if the players try and compromise the draft then the AFL can start fining Brisbane and Gold Coast as well as banning the player for 2 years.

Team was -24 for inside 50s, it's the same reason why Ben barely registered double digit possessions: we got nothing going from contests aside from spraying the ball, it was all on the rebound.

Excuse the intrusion. Just watched the end of the reply.
In defeat, I think the Carlton players showed a heap of class and respect for the presentation of the Robert Walls medal.
They were lined up in a guard of honour formation and paid the necessary respect that Robert Walls and the medal deserved.
Not sure the Lions did the same.
Go North.

Both Kiddy and Bruce are failures by other teams recruitment departments as much as they could be called Brisbane success stories.

Kiddy missed out in his u18 year (2018), came back and was genuinely incredible as a 19 year old in Brisbane's NEAFL team in 2019 - frankly he would have played senior games if he'd been on the list. No team gave him a chance in the national or rookie draft, then he was a matched bid in the 30s in the 2019 draft.

On Bruce - you are correct that this is his second season at 24, but he's been around the club in various capacities for several years. Missed out on being drafted, but played some NEAFL before COVID and then was excellent for our VFL team in 2023 leading to him being picked up. So yeah, Brisbane gets to develop him as a Cat B rookie but any club could have picked him up.

Has just signed an extension for another year, and I have no clue why he didn't get longer offers from other clubs. He's got a standout trait (kicking) but won't get more than 5-10 afl games with us at the moment.

He's not quite fit enough to be a high calibre AFL wingman yet but he was outside the system and juggling work and footy until last year.
