Vic Country plays Vic Metro on Sunday to finish the champs.Ah, Vic Country... of course. That would explain it. Probably just a week off either side of it to manage loads.
RIP FogNumber will actually be interesting, pending the career of one Jack Silvagni. May even decide to make another number his own guven Jack should have quite a few years in front of him. May align for Arli to get the ā1ā down the track if Cody is comfortable with an alternate number.
I have one in my head, he has used at times in his junior career, but wonāt disrespect the holder with premature suggestions. Needless to say it needs to be a low, probably single digit.
I'd suggest this early of a decision is more about focussing his training and integration into Carlton, prepping him for the start of his career, as much as anything.
Instead of splitting time across both clubs, focussing all in in one club narrows the focus. Smart thinking by the young man.

But once they leave, the Sun aināt gonna shine anymoreHopefully they will have 'No Regrets' about joining the club

Now that JSOS has his name on the locker can he give the number 1 jersey to Cody. So we can go SOS-Walker-SOS-Walker-Walker-SOS (eventually).Might as well create a separate, specific Cody Walker thread now. '*8. Cody Walker'
The alternative was constant speculation that he might make a different choiceWas there a process in play which meant he had to nominate us this soon?
The news re Cody is fantastic! So I am not knocking it in any way. But I was surprised to hear it come this far out from the draft. Was there a process in play which meant he had to nominate us this soon?
Again⦠the news is fantastic. Great news for us.
Allows him to not be front and centre in the media all year. His choice is made, and he can spend all his time with the club getting prepared without the speculation. Who's CDLooking at the highlights on the Carlton website, CD reminds me of a quicker Jack McCrae in the way he moves. A hunched over running style with a big side step and a similar kick
Theyāre the same at the footy as well.Richmond board has some real cooked, real ordinary types of posters that spew some vile shit, and how they haven't gotten permabanned over the years is beyond me. So the injury comments sadly don't surprise me.
Anyway, they can suck it up, they've got plenty of drafted talent. Great stuff Cody, and couldn't imagine him in any other colour.
He came with a wet sail after this game in the championships. From memory the early talk in that draft was around Cooney at No.1 and then and guys like Kane Tenace.
I think Walker sort of came with a late rush towards the end of the season.
no the deadline would be close to next year's draft. He clearly wanted to make the decision early so he could focus on his footy and not deal with a media circus next year. Thanks to everyone who has responded to my post. But none of the responses answer my intended question. That means I was unclear. Was there any processual reason (e.g. an AFL nomination deadline) that means he had to declare his hand this early?

As stated earlier, I believe that after Sundayās final championships game we will see Cody play in our reserves. Seems no other reason than to make a firm connection and an element of ownership. Thanks to everyone who has responded to my post. But none of the responses answer my intended question. Not as far as I know. But we do have some F/S candidates on the horizon.Does anyone know if Carlton had any U16s playing in the championships over the weekend (FS or NGA)???
