Yes it's certainly a generalisation.
My point is really that BF has a natural lean toward the hyperbolic. Even among some of the more balanced contributors. It's the nature of the medium, and besides we're all passionate supporters.

We (ie a good number of people on BF, but by no means everyone) tend to yearn for the next great hope. That often leads us to unrealistic expectations. When those high expectations are not met we are often unreasonable critics as well.

That said, Sellwood does look a prospect. So when MC thinks he's ready, I'll be keen to see how he goes and will be watching his progress closely.

I like too see Sellwood just to see what's he like , weather he's quick or slow Walker dont know muck about never heard about him at all TBH

Any recruit or untried player is a shiny new toy and has to be better than whoever is playing that role now. This overhyping elevates expectations to an unrealistic level and has the effect of turning developing prospects into whipping boys in a very short time.

Best to ignore.

FWIW I'm happy for Sellwood to come in if MC think he's ready.

Maybe if Sellwood was playing cricket for Essendon, he would of had a game by now

McNeill had pressure acts against a VFL standard side. He consistently spuds it up against any sort of capable opponent. If he plays in a high pressure game he ultimately fails.He poses no attacking threat so his opponent runs off him with confidence. Tried to see an upside but geez that bloke has had some chances

Arthur Jones can give you 7 disposals and lots of pressure acts if that’s the pass mark. He also has a higher ceiling than McNeil and has played far fewer games.

Harmes might not be the same pressure forward. Am aware this isn’t like for like. Am of the belief if you make that switch, we are more likely to beat gws anyway. I don’t buy the super special McNeil/VDM role stuff, they can (and don’t always) provide pressure acts and are basically liabilities in every other facet most of the time.

There is not a whole lot to take out of belting Essendons vfl side. We should be brave with the selections despite our big win - it was essentially a mirage in the context of how we think about this next game.

Davidson and Harmes should be a minimum.

Just watched the highlights of the 2016 prelim v GWS. Still get goosebumps' watching that game. It is the best game of footy I have seen. I have never been at a more intense game. Stringer was in the red, white and blue and Rory in the orange. After 9 years the colours are in reverse hope Lobby has a big smile at the end.
