There's a difference between what you define as success and your own personal expectations based on reality. We barely scraped into finals last year and did nothing to improve our list over the off season, in fact we lost strength from our list.

Whilst I understand what you mean, I don't think it's as cut and dried. Yes the aim is to play finals and win flags every year, factors get in the way of that some years. I also agree we have had too many "factors" getting in our way in recent years.

It's easier to stay at the top than to get there these days. With compromised drafts stifling rebuilds and free agency favouring the top clubs, you need a lot to go right to work your way up.
Having said that, there's a fairly even middle 10-12 clubs and year to year form/injuries/luck can see teams bounce around within that.
Despite our doom and gloom, we're in that middle 10-12 clubs having finally broke clear of the regular bottom 2-3.

We should not be selecting people who cant consistently perform at senior level. Nice mark, cant do much else, continually given games. This is one of the 10 reasons we are mediocre.... AGAIN.

Last year we were sitting second for most of the year.
Expectation by the club was a top 4 finish. Some might not want to admit it, but at the least, this list is good enough to play finals.
Big fail in 2025.

I am at the stage now where I think it’s absolutely dumb that TDK is still playing in matches. He’s not going to re-sign and who cares about getting him to 100 games in the hopes that his future son might be good enough to be drafted as a FS. Right now is more important than what will happen in 18+ years. Get games into players who will be at the club in 2026.
