I watched Ken’s presser, he has zero confidence you can win this week, seems his best hope is that you can ‘compete.’

When asked specifically about playing at KP, he didn’t even mention that you won at this ground only last year and that players would take confidence from that.

Absolute loser mentality which undoubtedly rubs off onto the players.
Why is he so celebrated at Geelong by the players of that era, one of the most dominant ruthless winning eras ever, that's arguably still going because of the standard they set?

If Hinkley really cared about Port after he leaves and about Carr he would be playing the fall guy now. Taking responsibility. Admitting they got it wrong. Saying they have a lot of work to do to right the ship.

That would take the pressure off of Carr and give him a clean slate.

Instead he gives all the excuses under the sun and talks about how good he is giving it to Carr. Mounting the pressure on him to right the ship from round 1.

We all already knew this about Ken but it's just further proof.
Yes we did know this about Hinkley. Hes never taken responsibilty when things arent going so well. Its why I despise him. No integrity at all.

the club’s media manager blocked me on Twitter for challenging her claim that we shouldn’t be tired of 3 consecutive days and myriad entries of Rory Atkins retirement content.

they aren’t just out of touch, they’re floating somewhere beyond Voyager 2
The media manager was just 'media managing' you see. Can't have people asking questions.

He must be a lovely guy Rory the entire joint seems in love with him.

I think it’s Good Bloke Syndrome, see Billy Brownless and others.

As a Cats fan, I appreciate the work he did as an assistant during our 2007/09 premiership years. It was documented that he was one of the driving forces in helping GAJ go from a talented but inconsistent small forward to arguably the best midfielder of the modern era. When GAJ left to the Suns he cited his relationship with Hinkley as one of the drawcards.

This is all irrelevant compared to the fact that Ken clearly took PAFC as far as he could years ago and lacked the ruthlessness to make hard decisions or demand excellence.

His farewell tour this year has been an embarrassment, I’ve never seen a coach more checked out having watched his pre and post-match pressers last week.

Ant took one small step off the happyclapping party line for just a split second, and the clubs media manger was onto him like the FBI spying on someone’s internet browse.

18 goals by Fred Fanning in 1947 against St Kilda is the current AFL / VFL record.

I’m not certain it’s going to stand.
If we are including SANFL my great-grandpa Bos Daly still holds the record, 23 in a match.

I certainly didn't inherit his kicking genes.

Simon Goodwin sacked before Ken Hinkley

I wouldn’t be shocked if he rips his Port polo off the second he’s not contractually obliged to wear it anymore, and flips whatever’s left of our home crowd the bird!
He'll be rocking the free merch well into his 70s if it saves him shelling out a few bucks for some Everlast tees at Big-W.

Simon Goodwin sacked before Ken Hinkley

It’s a fascinating situation.

Bar 2021, when the likes of Gawn/Trac/Clarry/May franked their reputations as elite players by winning the flag in dominant fashion, they’ve done diddly squat — for instance, they haven’t won a solitary final since despite everyone deeming them virtually unbeatable that year.

But absolutely nobody in the industry says Goodwin performed a miracle with a list that was no good in the first place, or was perennially undermined by a chronic lack of depth, or maximised favourable circumstances in an asterisk-laden COVID year before regressing to their true ceiling like you always hear with Ken.

Year on year the groupthink has been that Goodwin was wasting a list that had multiple premierships in it.

Meanwhile, Hinkley burned through two handfuls worth of All-Australian calibre players — including a Brownlow Medallist and a pair of AFLCA MVP’s — and he’s lionised as a savant who made skyscrapers out of toothpicks regardless of how relentlessly atrocious his team performs when it matters.
