Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Have said this before - we've got a core of players who spent the first 5-6 years of their careers getting belted, and being told that we just needed to stick together and success would come. These are guys who don't think they have to do anything more for success - they've earnt it by virtue of being patient. These same players are happy to turn up their toes when the pressure is applied to them, knowing that the coach would cop the blame and the boot, and then the club could go find a new coach who would magically produce a flag for these patient players.

23 games. 2 hours per game. They need to front up and bust their arses for a grand total of 46 hours across the entire home and away season, and yet week after week they put in one quarter and then go back to sleep. Just 46 hours of grit, guts and uncompromising competitiveness and they play finals. Or....they can keep on waiting for someone to rock up and do it for them.
Lol what an absolute crock of shite

I'm not the one ridiculing blokes who work 10x harder than me during the week under far more pressure to perform at their work than I ever will.

You're not...?

Motlop wtf are u smoking u dumbass

When ur team is this shite u make other plans on game day. Only 5 more days until I'm off overseas and free of the insipid Blues

Motlop is the worst player in the AFL and nobody will change my mind

Ones a liability in front of goals

Ones just a liability full stop

There's 8 small forwards on GWS list id pick before either atm

Fumbling basic possessions and getting ran down week after week due to a lack of awareness are nothing to do with system.

It's to do with a lack of talent.

Lucas kicking is a travesty

Speaking of game plans, is there any reason Carlton can't make a new game plan that's never been achieved before.
Instead of copying the top sides, come up with a way to change how AFL is played once again.
We be the leaders for once. Get ahead of the pack. 🤷
Or am I only wishing this could happen. 🙏

Definitely throwing coins in the wishing well. You'd have to go back to our last premiership for our last period of innovation. It's been reactivity ever since.

The initial point was this:

... and from there it's just a conversation.

But every opposition team have pretty much been able to escape our plan Gethel. If this posting chain between you and I has a requirement to make any sense then you need to basically say our current plan is successful and great and we should persist with a bit of tinkering.

Because you are responding to my theme of posting that it is broken and needs to change.

Ok. Mod has all the info. I will share what I have without giving away too
Much. If mod wants to delete them fine.

Family member of mine has a connection with The Silvagni family. By family I mean close close family. Question was asked of JSOS. Basically the response was Jack has met with Pies dogs and dons. Jack not impressed with dogs or dons.not sure why. SOS has also told Jack that he does not want him to go to pies as he does not think it is a good fit for him. He is leaning towards staying

Obviously Jack has decision to make but maybe it’s not out the door like we all think
After Thursday, blind Freddy can see he’d be a great fit at Pies.

But would they be a great fit for him? Anyone can see that the Pendles, Sidey , Crisp cliff is fast approaching. When that happens they are a Nick Daicos injury away from having the worst midfield in the comp made up of the injury riddled De Goey and hacks like Ned Long.

Have the Pies been a great fit for his mate Dan Houston?

Cause we are not smart enough to be innovators.

Have a look at how they have turned on Houston.

Now imagine if they fall off a cliff and your last name is Silvagni.

Do I?

I think our current plan can absolutely work, because we've seen it happen. Melbourne won a flag in 2021 playing inspired contested football, but only because they added Chocko Williams to the coaching roster and fixed their inside forward 50 entries did they manage it. Our run in 2023 demonstrated that with the cattle we had at the time and despite the limitations, we could match it with everyone except Brisbane in Brisbane.

The problems we have - in my opinion - are threefold:
  • the two years we spent under Teague were completely wasted time. I can go into why, but the end result of not being a serious football side when the majority of our players still had improvement to give and were in their primes is part of why our resurgence under Voss has been so short lived.
  • the way we enter forward 50, given the quality of our targets, is awful. If we entered our front half at league average levels, we would be around 5 goals better a game without even accounting for shot conversion improving.
  • our injury problems robbing us of any continuity or ability to build form.

I also think we're trying to pivot while we still have structural pieces in their prime, trying to shift and go again, but that's neither here nor there to what our issues currently are.
Because you are responding to my theme of posting that it is broken and needs to change.
Sure.

Agreed

Ratts all out attack game style was exciting to watch …we had the super quick smalls in Garlett betts yaran etc

Tiggies won 3 flags using pretty much that game style but with a better defense

Was there a game plan in the last 15mins against the Suns? It felt more like, "guys lets go back to basics." Whatever that was, stick with that!

I don’t really think the plan changed, the team got a few goals in a row, therefore our pressure intensified, GC got rushed and we started to get belief and momentum.
I’m not saying I like out game style or structure but I really don’t think Vossy told them to do anything different, we just got a head of steam up and the players threw themselves into it.

I dont know - hence the question.

But it looked good to me.

Others have suggested it is not a sustainable game style but few of the top 8 teams (filth lions dogs suns etc) do it week in week out so I wonder why we cant sustain a similar level of effort over most of the game?

Not sustainable? My mates where saying the team is young with xx players under 25, no tank, no legs blah blah blah...

I said nothing and all of a sudden in the 4th.....

Rumour has it that they were told to play like it was on X-Box, I can't confirm but heard it from a reliable source.
