Realistically down to the Eagles and the only two clubs with the draft picks that could satisfy the Eagles for a contracted Harley Reid, Essendon and Richmond.

nobody in their right mind would consider the salary cap impost and trade price for a player who is yet to prove he is even close to a generational footballer. Is he worth more than Chris Judd was? Not in a million years.

If TDK is re-setting the market at 1.7m, I'm happy to spend 1.8-2.0m on Harley if I'm the Eagles, who else deserves that amount of cash in this team. Agree, no team should look at Saints for the blueprint and 1.7m for a ruckman is certainly a stance.

When i use "re-setting the market" the market, I was using it in the NFL sense, when each contract pushes the bar into new frontiers. Its especially common right after a significant increase to the cap as agents continually try to leafrog previous contracts.

For West Coast, it’s not about whether they can afford to keep Reid, we have a plethora of Salary cap for him and more, its about continuing to build the list smartly. The Hawks don't need to go down this path, they already have the core of a contending list without thowing a team high contract at 1 player.

In saying that im confident he ends up earning more then Young and Serong combined... but then thats only temporary. By 2027 Serong will be on 1.5 mill. If he isnt then he wont be at Fremantle.
