Hey 3KZ is Football , love all the old clips, however it has me stumped and impressed how you remember such precise details of these games from decades ago, bloody amazing memory.

I can barely recall much detail of the Lions big games since 2019 let alone the 1980s.
I have a good memory. I am a historian by training and facts, experiences and finer details have always ‘stuck’.

Don’t get me started on 80’s indie music or 60’s and 70’s TV culture.

THE STUNNING fourth quarter of Josh Daicos last Friday night got us thinking - what is the best individual quarter ever by a single player?

Bernie Quinlan v Hawthorn

Fourth quarter, 1983 qualifying final, MCG

In a difficult list of contenders, we've gone back to the Fitzroy half of the merger for a scintillating performance from the 'Superboot', Quinlan, in a second against third qualifying final against Hawthorn. The Lions were 21 points down at three-quarter time, but with one of the best full-forwards in the game at their disposal, were still a chance. Quinlan had three goals to that stage of the game, but piled on five more in an incredible display. Numbers four, five, six and seven brought Fitzroy right back into the contest, with number eight giving it the lead in time-on. Unlike the others, which all came via marks, Quinlan's final goal came from a boundary line throw-in, where he grabbed the ball out of the ruck and somehow threw it on to his left boot for the go-ahead goal. Although the effort was in vain, with the Hawks winning by four points, Quinlan's performance, during a season in which he topped 100 goals, was one for the ages. – Michael Whiting

At this game. Heartbreak result, but incredibly proud of Bernie Quinlan. Blessed to have followed his stellar career when he arrived at Fitzroy.
I also reckon he took a mark right in front not paid.Hawthorns goals in that last quarter came either from free kicks or blatant errors by us I.e one kick in straight to a Hawthorn player

I was reading the other day that Alexei Sayle's parts were all ad-libbed, in the original scripts when he has a part it just says, "Alexei does his thing", for every member of the Balowski family. Bloody genius, he was the Spike Milligan of that era.

People always talk about the Michael Nettlefold deliberate out of bounds or the Gary Pert push in the back, but Hinchen gets off very lightly for his direct kick out after a behind to Michael Tuck.

Jamie Charman's final quarter in the preliminary final in Sydney in 2003 is one that few will remember but watch a replay and see how he completely dominates the first 15 minutes before he was replaced by Keating. There was only a few points the difference and the Swans were on the march but Charman blew them away.

On a sad note this week I went to the funeral of Fran Bromage the wife of Keith Bromage, a Roy boy and , at the time, the youngest VFL player. Fran was a gem who I saw her get cross once!
At a Fitzroy auction they were not going to bring out any more Chardonnay.
Fran got her Chardie.

My Granddaughters 15th birthday today, going Ten Pin Bowling with the family this afternoon, first time in over 40 years been ten pinning, hoping not to embarrass myself.

She is going to a Karaoke place tomorrow with her friends, I'll give that one a miss.

The middle grandchild(boy/man) turns 18 in 2 weeks, still can't believe I'm old enough to have adult grandchildren... then I stumble upon a mirror.:shoutyoldman::huh:⚰️

I’m managing my old age by remaining immature. Works a treat.

Good luck with the bowling and have fun with the grandkids.

Watching this today and it was a disgrace that concussion protocols were not in place. Additionally, the Match Review Panel is a joke and Michael Christian should be sacked. Big Bad John gave referee ‘Wallaby Bob’ McMasters a clear brain buster, but he was said to have no case to answer because ’Wallaby Bob’ initiated contact and the Brain Buster was a wrestling act. Pathetic.

What about John Burke who got 10 years, later reduced to 6 for pushing an umpire over. You be the judge, but I thought the Brain Buster was way worse.

And now the game has gone the other way and you get suspended for bumping into an umpire who gets in the road. They’re trying to turn the game into basketball!

2019 - The last time we played Hawthorn at the Gabba. It really does show how wrong the AFL fixture is and has been for a number of years.
