Tigers in Tasmania?

It's not like we are crashing a party - we've been hand picked by the Tasmanian Government because they know how big we are down there.

I recall attending the Hawthorn v Richmond game in Launceston in 2006. You'd swear by the amount of Richmond hype and paraphernalia in the town that Richmond was the only team playing.

It's only for 2 years whilst we're rebuilding - a far cry from the underlying premise behind the Cairns experiment.

And what's wrong with cementing our supporter base down there before the Devils enter the comp.

Going to the footy in Melbourne these days sh!ts me so I rarely go; but I'd make the trip to Tassie no problem.
The Tassie Government wants us down there because they know we'll pack out the joint and make the need for the stadium easier to sell. The anti-stadium crowd here look at Norf's crowd numbers and use it as an argument to say we don't need the stadium, but in reality it's just a simple case of people not wanting to watch Norf.

Maybe they should spend all the money on building that stadium so they can have their own team by 2028?

I'd assume ours would be more like the Launceston Hawks games where generally the state makes money out of hosting the games with extra spending so a win/win. Norf crowds make it a bit harder but I'm sure we would be closer to Hawks.

Still the record crowd that game.

Don’t do it. Hawthorn haven’t needed the cash for 20 years but the club is afraid to let go.

It is somewhat of a false economy. Let’s say you get $1.5m. If you decide to give members access to extra away games as part of their membership, they you need to pay the hosting club for every member that attends. Say that game is Richmond v Hawthorn @ MCG. If 30k Richmond members attend, then Richmond pay Hawthorn around $750k.
I’m sure we’d account for that in negotiation, my only concern is that we get sucked into selling a home game so they can pad out their use of new stadium , it’d wanna be huge $$$$$

Come down Tassie for a week or 2. we can do the South
Coast Track. Be tough in winter but you gonna be a soft **** all ya life?

South Coast track is the hardest walk I have ever done. The track has fallen apart in some places - especially off the Ironbounds. Swinging from trees with your feet in mid air wearing a full pack for hours is fairly hard work.

In winter, especially if storms come in would be very very hard.

So yeah, send the boys out between games to toughen them up. If they don't make it, just shows they need a bit more gumption. kids these days

Richmond getting a million a game for playing two games in Tasmania against minnows.

Paper here reporting it will only be one Richmond home game in Hobart for each of the next two years if we agree to the deal.
I don't think too many would be upset if it was our home Docklands game that gets sacrificed.

The updated Marvel stadium deal with the AFL has us playing 2 home matches there, which would be reduced to 1.

Seems like a good deal to me
Gives our Tassie Tiger fans another chance to watch the boys, banks some cash for the club and means one less game at colonial stadium
