Our best key fwd performance in years. Well done, Harry. His best game in a long time. It’s not just the goals, it’s bringing the ball to ground and hitting packs, reminding everyone how big he is.

Was also good to see our leaders perform. At least, who I think should be our leaders next year.

Walsh
Cowan & Hollands.

Changing of the guard.

Were clearly seeing better performances by a combination of A) play alterations, and B) less of the bs ‘hero mode’ from the senior players in favour of being supportive to the other team members (particular the young crop).

Hand the keys over. Let the kids play.

I agree that we should overhaul leadership, but it's not time for players like Hollands and Cowan yet. I'd have Newman in there and another more senior player, maybe even a Hewett.

I also have but one more thing to say.

In the final term, there was a free kick paid against Corey Durdin to Aliir Aliir. He was paid a free kick for making body contact in a marking contest; not high contact, not chopping the arms, not tripping or holding or throwing him out of the way. Durdin might be the sub, might've had a shit of a night in which he kept bombing it forward - he clearly wasn't with the rest of the programme - but he's entitled to fair umpiring.

If Durdin's name was Jamie Elliott, that would not have been a free kick.

He was penalised for better than halving a marking contest against a taller player. No more, no less.
Clearly a poor decision, spot on…

Happy for the win, I was in hospital for our last match against Port and it really bummed me out, glad to be better and have the result flipped

Hewett and Haynes will be 1 & 2 in the bnf this year and they continued their form today.
McKay showed what he can do when he’s on, let’s keep him fit in 2026 and see what happens!

Thought the youngsters played really well today, Ollie, Young, Cowan, Carroll, Lord, Motlop, Moir, HOK & Evans all 23 and under, some bright lights in a crap season.

I love that Evans has gone from whipping boy to almost universally loved, hope to see him in Navy Blue next year, he’s earned it.

Enjoyed the game and the performance of a few players. Mckay, Hewett, Walsh & Motlop.

The heat and expectation are gone for the season so not sure how much to take away from the win.

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda..
Facts are Motlop kicked none!

I hope we can find a better small forward in the off season.

He played well. Small forwards should be measured by how they go when the rest of the team is going well. They are the cream. Jesse was ferocious today.

Don’t think we can afford to keep TDK on both S/C allowance & draft pick/s required for HD and drafting/trading.

Agreed however, he’s going to find himself in an unenviable position if he goes to STK on an absurd amount of coin, pressure and potential uneasiness amongst the playing group/supporters.

Did some nice things today. Can HOK take the ruck mantle - showing some promise as a forward.
I do agree, in that I think the list management team have probably concluded that losing TDK is necessary. If he did somehow miraculously decide to stay then the conversation would likely be on in earnest as to who else would go.

Ignorant question time. Voss was talking us up about our pressure on the ball and power around the contest yesterday. But our pressure rating was way down on what was being measured earlier in the year. Why is there a discrepancy between Voss’s observation and what the stats are saying?

Pressure rating vs opposition quality perhaps….
combined with our younger guys having better skills etc to take the game on & impact the scoreboard.

Some of our higher pressure rating games saw us create opportunities only to blow them or opposition quality was able to defend them better.

Didn't get to the 6am start and watched later in my day
Great start from the boys
Lots of kids being played, gotta give a hand to Vossie and coaches
H was dominant , Walsh was good, Mots tried hard
Moo did well
HOK raw but may be ok
Zac very silky and Skip , something aint right
Bot and Saad can't wait for the yr to end
We are a long way off

Voss very complimentary about Zac Butters in his press conference. 🤔
First time watching him live, blokes a freak.

We should really praise the Lord, for the job he did on Butters, until he got struck down.

Having watched the replay we really just hit them hard with our 1 wood and our stars played well. Port played like a team wanting their year to come to an end.

Didn’t defend the ground well when they had it

Didn’t move the ball that well from end to end

Still it was nice to see a good win but lots to work on.

Port did well in the draft last year with Berry and Whitlock.

Liked a couple of glimpses of good play by Billy. Need to try and get him into the game more to boost development ( every
Time Lewis gets the ball run past him)
