If we finish 5th and win week 1, we’d play the loser of 1st v 4th, so probably Gold Coast up there.
Somehow I was pencilling Geelong sliding down.... but if thats the case, then finals newbies in Gold Coast are ideal matchup..... that team is a couple of old head veterans away from a great team though, similar to Hawks bringing in veterans.

  • if we play any football at all in the first half v Suns we make top 4
  • if we “play the minutes” / show some fight in the 4th v Freo we make top 4
Now we need to rely on other results
Furious

  • bring Cox in
  • make sub when there’s opportunity to impact or don’t f-ing bother
  • I’m a fan of Steele…should he be on the wing?
  • F50…work it f-ing out

Edit: and just play Bobby ffs
Im happy if he needs to sit beside the goal post for half the quarter - 50% Bobby is better than no Bobby

I'm outraged, microwaving my membership & sending a truckload of manure to myself for my vegie patch!!!!

There, I've said it!!!

After QT, our F50 was horribly crowded all night. There was no space to lead or mark. We needed to find a way to open it up but couldn’t. Hill would have helped.

At least we’ve rediscovered some intensity, pressure and more daring ball movement. There’s at least a little hope now that we can get through first week of Finals.
This is my worry. Teams flood our forward line and we look like a grizzly bear thrashing around in the water, but not making any progress.

Everyone does it against us (Freo, GC, now Adelaide).

Why don't we have a strategy to answer it? Surely, with the opposition flooding our forward line, we can take advantage due to the predictablility of such tactics?

Yet we never see a different response.

Billy Frampton was outstanding tonight. Back to his best.

Cats, even if they get rolled by the Swans play the Tigers next week.

They will win that by plenty and either finish 2nd or 3rd depending on Brisbane.

Yeah, Gold Coast can’t overtake Geelong, unless Geelong completely shit the bed v Sydney and Richmond!

Only problem is our record up there recently ain’t good!!!

He is dumb as all **** tactically. Just keep blazing away to the out number. 71 inside 50s let’s not change it up. FMD
You must be joking.

McRae's system is absolutely effective. Again, Pies dont have too many Superstars any more and yet they are successful because of the system. Plug and play role players who can play structure and it works. No need for All-Australian Key forwards or mid-field superstars, yet effective.

We will finish this round in the top 4 with Melbourne coming up next week who, let's face it, their cue's well and truly in the rack.
Gold Coast are a threat (percentage wise) but I think we will just scrape in for fourth on the ladder at the end of next round.
I actually would prefer us to play Adelaide away in the 1st Qualifying match than play Geelong at home in the 2nd.
Winner of the 1st Qualifying puts themselves in the best position for the Prelim and I rate our chances of beating Adelaide next time around.

Just one question.

Since when is a throw a handball?

Time and again Adelaide got away with that tonight.

The only reason you or I know about it is because Dunstall was barracking hard for us all night (Seriously WTF?) and pointed it out.

Incredibly disappointing result. Game was there for the taking, but our lack of connection going inside forward 50 killed us.

Pressure numbers were good, we won the territory battle and the intensity resembled more of what we produced earlier in the year so there are some silver linings to hold onto.

The forward line structure is a mess and has been for the past six weeks. It's a far cry from early in the season when we were brutally efficient especially off turnover.

The Fremantle loss at the MCG is the game that we'll be rueing rather than some of the other defeats we've had. We won all key metrics and fell 1 point short. The top 4 situation is precarious now. All we can control is by beating Melbourne (ideally by a large margin) and hoping the cards fall in our favour.

Some absolute howlers from the umps tonight. Missed the Keays throw which led to Adelaide's only goal in Q3 and Thilthorpe kicking the ball away with a minute to go should have been a 50m penalty.

Parker was great and has always shown ‘something’ when he has played.

We need more youth in the side, players like Markov simply shouldn’t have been taking his spot earlier in the year.
We had good balance all year then about 5 weeks ago we decided to drop some of these young players
This will go down in the books as the most perplexing month+ since post gf win
- get all of Parker, Allan, Steele in

Yes, he was truly brilliant.
Our defence is back to its best.
This is what still gives us a chance.
Midfield pressure was also great tonight.
But the forward line, and the lack of plan against flooding, is a massive issue.

Anyone floods against us when they get the lead, and we can't score.

It is so obvious.

Why TF can't we find an answer?

Yep that’s why we have lost 5 out of 6 resting players against the Suns, Dockers and Lions
