How is that dirty?

We received an information pack from Footy First in the mail along with a general proxy form. Having digested what they've had to say and after weighing it up with the performance of our current board they've decided that they do want the club to head in a new direction.

Are those 10,000 people somehow not worthy to vote because they don't attend the EGM?

What a silly point.

What I'm suggesting is that a large proportion of those people are choosing the side that makes it easy for them to sit on their tuchusses and not go to the meeting. Plenty of members, particularly those either embittered by previous controversies or new members, are going to be drawn to the option that avoids them going to what will be a very unpleasant meeting. Such people are voting to save their butts from having to move off the couch, and not for the sake of the club.

please get over the fact that Thomas was sacked. You need to support your club, which is bigger that the individual,not the person, so any decision you make is for the club and not the person. To sit there and say Westaway and Butterss are not the people, tell us who is and go out and get them, not sit and not denounce people who are trying. You sound like the person who would complain about a sunny day.

He said this also on SEN this morning with Bartlett.
From an impartial, he honestly sounds like a pollie - he had everything remembered line for line and avoided important questions.
He also used the phrase - 'let's not throw the baby out with bathwater' approximately 7 times.

You're right, he didn't mention any names except constantly - and I mean constantly saying Burke and Thompson are welcome to join his board and the bathwater rubbish. I must admit, and again I'm impartial, he really sounded like a tool...

We live in Adelaide and can not attend a EGM or any other AGM. Not all Saints members live in Melbourne mate. However IF we did we would most certainly attend the meeting

Don't worry Panthers, I wasn't saying that ALL the people who have proxied are dodging the EGM, nor that all Saints members are in Melbourne - I myself was a member in Adelaide for three years (small world), and when I return to Adelaide in about two months will be signing up again. My point isn't that proxies are bad, just that I feel that FF are misusing them, utilizing them for a purpose they were not intended - to allow SOME people to choose FF only because they want to avoid conflict.

Well I sent in my proxy and I am trying to avoid an EGM. The reason is because the EGM will be more damaging than the election.

Butterss should just see the writing on the wall. He is obviously desperate, as evidence such as his offer to Burke and Thompson shows. He needs now to just step aside.

They haven't shown us any policies. Why would they show us their proxies? I admit that they must have quite a few proxies, but adding a couple of thousand to your actual tally might help convince people like Punter to throw in the towel and go quietly. I'm not saying they're doing it but I ain't ruling it out.

That is unfortunate and neglect, as you have not even had a chance to hear both sides of the arguement. That is not to say you have made the wrong decision, because I know you have thought through opinions Punter, but I am frustrated that people seem to be actioning without considering all sides.

They probably do have them, but they could lie simply to put pressure on the current board to resign. This pressure would be seconded by the like of people on Big Footy who call for Butterss to throw in the towel in the face of overwhelming pressure, get frustrated that he does not, and then put in a proxy in protest, not on policy.

It is a catch 22 for Butress in this situation, and Footy First get votes without a sign of a policy, or vote, again.

We simply must demand they provide some answers and not just problems.

ohh yer we should just keep him, his the best person for our club, how studpid can you get. by sacking grant and getting a ring in who dosent know how to coach, like they say you can only coach with what you got, and we have a very good team so he just cant coach, and the only reason why we got a new coach was because rod put himself b4 the club, his personal life is bringing down the credibility of the club, it looks lke he dosent have much support from the players. andrew has just come out of the game, and he knows what is best for the players, and we need more money spent on injuries, because that has been our downfall throughout seasons and most of our finals, and rod is not paying enough attention to it.

Well, I was disgusted with how Rod Butterss acted publicly during the season.

I firmly believe that this wouldn't have happened if Butterss had a succession plan in place. Seven years is getting close to a use-by-date for a club president.

All I care about is St Kilda winning premierships. We have seen a revolving door of CEOs and conditioning coaches at the club, and we have seen constant injury problems at the club. Things have to change, and I don't believe the proposed administration will sell the family china. I don't see the club going heavily into debt in the near future.

We need an administration that can actively and forcefully advocate for the key issues surrounding the club, such as a secure home base and revenues.

This week's moves of advertising for sponsors and the concession of including Thompson and Burke on the board reeked of desperation. It is clear the current board is done.

Why not? They have expressly said they will go into debt, and they are willing to just sign on the dotted line for Moorabbin without further negotiation even though it will mean the loss of an important revenue stream - pokies.

It's easy to pick on the current board and ppl like butterss for things that have happened in the past because they are in the public eye, they make both good and bad desicions, as all boards would, but the thing is, the good decisions have well out weighed the bad.. but FF is content on pointing out the very few bad things and they keep recycling it.. they are attacking the credibility of the individual on the board, not the facts..

It's unfair on Butterss as he can't do this to westaway or the others as they have ZERO time in running a football club and have no record, so not only do they have nothing BAD to point out, they have nothing GOOD either, which is what everyone should be looking at..

It seems people are deciding their votes based on the negatives, however few there are.. People are weighing up the negatives from the past of each side, and obviously the current board will weigh more as FF have NO past.. but if you were to weigh up the positives instead, the current board would well be infront..

everyone please look at the positives for the future and what each board will bring, then decide.. personally, FF haven't showed any positives, "spending more" doesn't cut it for me..

p.s. if this seems a little out of wack here and there, i had a bender on the weekend so I'm lacking a few brain cells.. (insert pun here)..
