Certainly wasn’t subtle. Expect/hope Gov may have been given the option if foregoing the trigger for a swansong. I am in the group who wants to move past him, but this is brutal. Just hope the incoming are an upgrade and not some of the dross being discussed.
Yeh this is what I'm worried about. Happy to move him on but it can't just be Dean coming in for JSOS (if he goes), HOF (ACL) and Gov.

I'm gonna be one out here, but unless this was discussed with Gov a few weeks back, it's an absolute piss poor decision. Total disrespect for Gov imo.

Voss coming out during the week talking him up, then doesn't select him. I wonder if Voss would have selected him if his job was still on the line.

And we wonder why there's rumours of players wanting out if that's the way we treat our own.

Anyway, rant over....come at me, I've got the suit of armour ready and waiting.
Young is playing KPD.
Haynes is in but played wing. Carroll getting games.

Lord out = Lucas in
Fogarty out = Walter in
Like for like after a good win.

We couldn’t help his injury at the wrong time.
Mitch probably should have been dug a little deeper when out on the park to make himself an automatic selection.
MM is a big part of our issues with his conditional approach.

If he needed the 1 game to trigger an extension at a certain salary level, perhaps we are trying to get our cap in order and will offer him a contract at a reduced rate. While I feel for him in that he has played 17 games this year and been fit to play 3 more, on top of 18 last year, I dare say form has been the motivating factor in withholding that contract.
TBH, I don't think we owe him any favors at all. I guess we could have let him know sooner but who knows if he wasn't already told.

It would have been a more diplomatic move to 'omit' Gov a few times during the season to avoid the trigger, but Voss' arse was on the line back then.

Same end result I suppose.
What good did it do sticking with MM at the start of the season when as a senior player he was bog ordinary (droppable).

He has been injured = the situation we’re in. If it benefits the club, then bingo for us.

It might be culturally damaging gutting the playing list too suddenly also, there were some dark times during SOS's early list management experiments.

I find it amusing some are upset we don’t pick a guy who wants to play for us, yet we must let a guy who is leaving us play his 100th game!
Interesting.

One player will open up $700k in salary cap space and a first round draft pick..the other will save us money and give us options for list management

Yes but that’s not contingent on him playing his 100th…will happen regardless whether he plays or not.

on form he should have been dropped round 2 or 3 but selection committee lacked integrity/back bone

It started last off-season but all the list decisions were understandable. 2025 and our depth is being tested as we juggle our S/C & draft picks.

We’re not gutting the list, hopefully negotiating for a better outcome for the club.
MM has taken a lot more than he’s given back with his contracts.

Mitch could have been played as a forward but HOK will be lining up this week with H as the KPF’s.

I have to say that Gov has more than got his money's worth out of Carlton. It's no surprise he is comfy here.

I would have dropped TDK a couple of months back, but he was actually decent last week.

Anyone else suprised Ben didn't get a debut game given its the last round with Lord out? Not sure we need another Winger in the side.

Why was he rested last week?

He wasn't. The VFL had a bye in amongst his suspension so his time was up last VFL game.
