If it was a League in Victoria I’d understand your point- But it’s in WA and has no impact here so what’s the issue?

No impact??? Are you serious!!

South have a young group and Marlion is looked up to and a very imposing figure on the ground with the way he attacks the contest. Hearing he was going and then not playing today has an effect.

Oh yeah and pretty sure he signed a 2 year deal so is contracted so they could have shown respect in this footy world. Poor form from that club..

Kind of agree. A team on the other side of the country promoting a big signing won’t really care what is thought over here.

I think it’s poor form from the player. Not hard to request the new club to hold off on announcing the signing. Happens all the time and most teams agree to hold off.

Not at seasons commencement but Tuesday night at the Macedon FC dinner table yes, and then doubled down yesterday when the 2’s game commenced.

Dont get paid for finals 🙈.

South had a huge following today in front of the rooms and most were disappointed to hear he was out. Once I found out I knew it would be tough to beat Macedon as they have some strong tallish players and South lack those types..

Yep it was a big crowd in front of the canteen area. Hard to tell from a distance who is who, same colours 😂
 
The Final 6 is the worst system ever. The RDFL has that and it's a joke.

1st v 2nd get a double chance. Winner goes through to the Major Semi Final. Loser plays in the Minor Semi.

Then 3rd v 6th & 4th v 5th. The two losers are eliminated.

Now this is where it gets ****ed up.

The highest ranked winner out of those Elimination Finals goes through to the Major Semi Final and if they win that they go straight through to the Grand Final but if they lose they get a second chance.

So yesterday 6th (Kyneton) upset Wallan (3rd). Wallan now eliminated even though they were the form team heading into finals.

5th (Macedon) beat 4th (South). Melton South eliminated.

So Macedon, despite finishing 5th, are now in the exact same position as Riddell who finished 2nd and won the Qualifying Final. How ****ed up is that?

What was said to Carlisle? I was on the far wing and could hear the Kyneton crowd but didn’t notice any abuse

The way the results went on the weekend has thrown up this unbalanced outcome. However a couple of points ;

  • This is the same model as Ballarat Football League have used for years
  • Wallan being form team counts for nothing
  • We have an unbalanced draw so final finishing positions can be somewhat tainted by this too

That being said I think there is at least one league with a top 6 doing this:

3 v 6 Elimination 1

EDFL Div 2 has the most bizarre finals setup.
Top 5
Week one 4th v 5th, loser out.
Week two, winner of 4th v 5th plays against 1st, and 2nd plays 3rd
Week three - 2 winners of week 2 games play the GF.

The issue is Riddell & Diggers shouldn't have played in week one of finals. They should have been given the bye.

Week 1:
Elimination Final 1
3rd v 6th
Loser eliminated

Elimination Final 2
4th v 5th
Loser eliminated

BYE
1 & 2

Week 2:

Semi Final 1
1 v 2
Winner goes through to Grand Final
Loser plays in Preliminary Final

Semi Final 2
Winner of EF1 v Winner of EF2
Loser eliminated

Week 3:

Preliminary Final
Loser of SF1 v Winner of SF2
Loser eliminated

Week 4:

Grand Final:
Winner of SF1 v Winner of PF.


The Final 6 is simply an unfair system. Even the system I posted above awards too much advantage to teams 1 & 2. However, it's a fairer system than the current system in place.

I've always been a fan of the Final 5. That's clearly a fair system.
