What part of what I proposed was incorrect? Sure take a shot at the language I don’t really care about that and there’s no conspiracy, but you know I’m right and there’s zero chance we’re getting any of North, Richmond, WC or Port twice next year. As a fan of the 6/6/6 fixturing it still needs tweaking. For instance this years PF should not receive a double up against a bottom 4 team for 2026.
I'm surprised you've got Port in there. I'd predict them as the least desirable of the bottom 6 to get fixtured against next year. I think they'll bounce straight back up - they had a lot of injuries this year.

It'll be hard to intentionally give us a shit fixture next year as it starts with us getting the most desirable of the middle 6 teams as a double up game.

I'm with you, we seem to get stitched up every year relative to our ladder position. For example, last year, Geelong made a prelim and we finished 9th, but we had a considerably harder draw then them this year.

The result? Geelong finishes second, finishing the season with 6-7 gimme games, whereas we are fighting for life against contenders.

We are the biggest club in the land, and we let the AFL milk the club and our fans to keep afloat their Northern expansions teams without actual benefit to us.

We are pretty much locked in to play GWS (opening round away), Brisbane (Easter Thursday away) and Gold Coast (school holidays away) away for the foreseeable future.

Maybe we should be rewarded to propping up the Nepo teams as opposed to penalised.

Hmm I think they take a good stab at it sometimes. Us having our bottom 6 double ups against Adelaide and Melbourne, the two teams most likely to rise, was a stitch up. Given we’ll have a top 6 finish this year you can bet next year our one double up will be against Melbourne again or Essendon. Our top 3rd double ups will include Adelaide and Brisbane. We don’t get a fixturing free lunch unless we finish bottom 6.
But Melbourne didn’t rise. And Carlton weren’t expected to fall as far as they did. Granted however we didn’t get any double ups against any of the basket case bottom four.

See my post above on blockbusters. It's a necessary evil of having our blockbusters.

i certainly do not know there is zero chance of none of those double ups. In fact I would be very surprised if we didn't get at least one of them.

The problem with supporters is that they/we tend to be very myopic - and see things that aren't there. The ppl who run the fixturing have too many other worries to work against teams.

This year our double ups consisted of
1 from the top 6(Bris),
3 from the mid 6 - Hawks(7), Car(8) and Freo(10)
2 from the bottom 6 - Dees(14), Crows(15)

How is that a stitch up?

Yep. lions Demons Hawks and Freo more or less in the same position . Blues went backwards and the Crows advanced significantly, noting however they were miles ahead of the bottom three in 2024 so we definitely copped the least worst of the bottom six

We went 8-4 in our double ups this year and didn’t go 0-2 against any team.

We went 8-3 against our “ single” opponents

So no pattern to speak of to suggest that our draw influenced our ladder position

That's a backward compliment.

So you don't rate our chances after that match?
Not really. With the form we are in and the strength of some of the opposition can’t see us winning the GF. Or getting there. With no bobby and a dysfunctional forward line can’t see us kicking a winning score. But been wrong before and hopefully wrong again 👍

I agree, but it was 2 from each third. Hawks were top 6.

The AFL use the thirds system to try to level it a bit. But they're not going to get predictive within those thirds to level it even further or rig it - even if they tried, they wouldn't get it right. At the start of the year the pundits rated the Cats as having one of the hardest fixtures, but with who has risen further than expected or unexpectedly fell, it's ended up being a really easy fixture.. It's just the luck of the draw.

That's the big influence on our fixturing. If the AFL were so inclined as to try to manipulate the fixture for financial gain, they would give us the big draw games AND give us plenty of easy ones so we make the finals.

Luckily, the AFL ain't that way inclined nor sufficiently sophisticated to be able to manipulate the comp with a clandestine doctored fixture.
That’s what I don’t get about the conspiracy theories that the AFL deliberately harms our flag chances.

Nothing would make them more money than years we win the flag. The AFL membership waiting list grows considerably when we win.

What does happen against us, is bias. You love or hate Collingwood. There is little in-between. Few have a soft spot for us or “like” us.

That hatred clouds judgment and causes bias, which is seen in umpiring for example. The fact the general population sees it as we get favoured with umpiring astounds me but proves this bias affects judgement. Works the other way too. We are probably seeing it a little the opposite overall.

Our draw is undoubtedly the result of being used as a draw card for marque games, television ratings and crowds.

Imagine being the Doggies having to go through the motions of still training & preparing for finals, just in case Bombers were to perform a miracle on Wednesday night.
Yeah hard for them to be in limbo like this for days. And ultimately most likely season is already over.

Oh how amazing would it be if Essendon pull something out a hat!!

Don’t think so Kezza - the scumps are focused on making the best decisions they can so they achieve the highest in their field. Crowd noise might influence a decision- or a smart arse fannoying player - but bias doesn’t get a run. It goes against their self interest.

Collingwood need to go retro next year and demand the AFL fixture double ups against Ess, Carl and Rich.
Due to 666 restraints will only get 2/3.
Years ago it was almost guaranteed you’d get double ups against those 3.
All manufactured now.
I see 6 wins pretty much there..

We always seem to miss the double up when one is shit. Like Essendon this year

The AFL keep selling our soul to the highest bidder.
We need to take a stand.
GWS opening round bs, Bris Easter carnival, Gold Coast school holiday bonanza…ra ra ra.
Not sure if AFL driven or club driven but it needs a break.

Yeah I’m over the annual donation to Brisbane every Easter. **** off and build your own tradition with GC or something
