Spoiler, you wont
Sammy Edmund reporting on SEN right now that the Bulldogs and Pies have been told the Saints offer to Jack is 5 yrs at 900k a season.

That would trigger band 1 IF correct. Battle got Band 1 for less last season and is nearly a yr older.

Thats only if the AFL’s magic formula hasn’t been adjusted for inflation.

A $900k contract is around $700k from a few years ago and that certainly wouldn’t have got band 1 back then.

Knowing the AFL, they probably forgot to factor that in.

I think it's basically irrelevant what he's given short of being WAY over band 1. The AFL will not want him going for band 1. Herbs and Spices will be applied vigorously.

Yeah who knows really.

As long as the Silvagni compo gets us Dean which it will in a virtual straight swap i am happy and means the TDK compo is untouched.

There comes a time in every Ross Lyon managed team where a big push is made, bringing in bulk players to lift performance, and it either pays off big time or the squad is stuffed for half a decade while it rebuilds.

Hopefully Lyon remains coach of St Kilda for Jack's entire contract, it would mean good things for them all.
Reminds me when Essendon got Dylan Shiel,Jake Stringer,Adam Saad,Devon Smith all four players didn't push us up the ladder

For Saints sake they better hope it works out other wise they are ****ed

Wow .. crazy obvious some opposition supporters are clearly worried about what the Saints are building here

Pies & Bulldogs very very interested in luring JSOS away from Carlton ... in the end though he has chosen to join the Saints due to our insanely talented youth and the primed squad were are assembling

Onwards & Upwards :rocket::rocket::rocket:

Battle is a year younger, not older, than JSOS and was only 26 when he got us band 1. So that works against Carlton.

Having the old man at the club would have been key in getting to nominate Saints. Insanely talented youth and primed sqaud? you struggled to beat North,Essendon,Richmond lost to West Coast you are more likely in no mans land then actually on the way up

Yeah that's what it was :) .
Not his retirement fund.

He joined St Kilda for the cash and no one can blame him for that, retirement is a long time.

With tassie coming in and some comprised drafts, if anything this is the perfect time to go for it.

Also we have Simon Darlymple, bloke gets guns form high picks.

Has the record at the doggies and swans.

900k would have got band 1 last year. Soft cap increases this season so it'll be lineball.

At what point is that a genuine conflict of interest?

JSOS has just been paid well above market value (and well above other offers) by his own father.

I'm definitely not losing sleep over missing out on this. He would certainly help us but not the sort of defender we need compared to what we already have on the list.

Sounds like you are..

$2.7m on two players who won’t finish top five in our BnF this year. Definitely an interesting and likely emotionally charged list management strategy from old man Steve.

Now for a bid on Harry Dean and he can just about feel like he got his revenge on the Blues.

Credit to Tom, Jack and their management for getting such overs. Both very likeable players.

Like i said hopefully it works out for Saints in saying that you are blowing majority of the cap on average players

When some of your young guns peak that are ooc and want more money you might have trouble keeping them

Still want to know if the cumulative contracts given to TDK and JSOS triggers band 1 for both.

Systems never really been tested like that before but when you lose a FA and then bring another in its always gone against you in terms of compensation due to the overall in vs out formula, so hypothetically we should be getting 2x Band 1 compos for both.

Doubt we'd get that because it's ridiculous, but from what we know that should be the outcome.
