Both Cox and Mihocek are without contracts for next year. There’s a real scenario where both are gone opening up two spots in the 23.

Could be a number of reasons, Cox and Checkers could be going, one or the other might be, i don't think West and Howes will get regular games in the seniors. At the moment all our tall forwards are old, potentially we will have West and Howes (19), Buller (24), Mcstay (30), Membrey (31) and maybe Cox (34), Checkers (32) and McCarthy (18).

So ideally we should keep one of either Cox or Checkers and draft McCarthy, so we'll have a good mix of young and older tall forwards.

All our senior team forward targets are old - Checkers, Membrey, Cox, McStay, Elliott and 3 of them are currently uncontracted for next year. I think West will be a senior player next year, but you can't bank on him yet - and you sure as hell can't bank on Howes. We'd be mad to not be looking at forward targets.

It's one of the more ridiculous things. I'd love to see Stepho get his shit together and become the player he should have been - but it just is no chance of occuring at the Pies.

Titch hardly needs replacing, and Crisp is years away.

I would imagine Perryman is slated to play more midfield as the others move out & Parker takes his backline spot. McCreery also seems suited for more midfield time, as HH comes into the side

It's gradual renewal and as players regress or develop their roles get adjusted. Since 23, we've recruited Perryman, Houston and Schultz into the 22 and Long has become a best 22 midfielder. Renewal has already been occuring. Having Pendles and Sidey still playing well is an absolute bonus - not a case of how will we replace them - the blokes we've added already are a big part of our team post Pendles, Sidey, Crisp and Titch - just got to keep renewing gradually.

Perryman will transition into the midfield

Could mean something regarding departures, but even without departures the age of our group means it's an area we need to add a prospect likely to come on quicker than Macarthy. I certainly don't think that Buller is bankable or an automatic in next year's best team - just another potential bloke who will give short term depth with the potential to become more than that in both the now and the future.

he's an interesting one.

if we are looking for midfield grunt he's an elite tackler (better than anyone at Collingwood) and 101 clearances would be no 2 at Collingwood.

he also played 3 less games.
