We have never been able to rely on Jordy for anything more than patches over the last few years. Way too inconsistent (vs an Ashcroft/McCluggage, or a Smith/Holmes, or etc.).

We might as well get seriously aggressive in the trade period because the list isn’t good enough as is.

I'd keep Allan and trade degoey. I'm not trading out our youth for a guy who's obviously past his best due to injury

The gap between Nick and our second best player must be the biggest in the entire league. We need to get him help ASAP. Would hate to see him have a Buckley-like career from here where he has to carry a bunch of second-graders for a decade.

Allan got a chunk of games this season which I imagine helps both his development and motivation. He had moments

He’s completed 4 seasons now. Next one will be his 5th
He’ll be 23 years old next season.
He’ll hit 100 games early next year.
He’s already decorated with awards and accolades. He still may win the brownlow this year.
He’s respected by his peers and teammates and recognised as one of the best in the game.

Where I am going with all this, is it time for him to be captain?

He’s the obvious next choice. I like for people to serve faithfully in all aspects of life, before being rewarded. I think my earlier points would say he’s now done that.

I’d personally be ok to see this happen for next season. I’m also happy if it waits another year or two (no more than that though).

I think Maynard is great captain material except the man does not articulate well! lol

He’s fave with bookies but it would surprise me if he does win. And if he does, it is probably the umps just being a bit Nick centric like they are with Cripps.
He was heavily tagged for a lot of the earlier part of the season and largely kept out of influencing games.

He’ll then have a block of BOG.

Then we started losing which we know means the winning team will get the votes (except when we win of course, and the loser usually gets some votes too!). Good old Collingwood tax.

It would be deserving & an honour for Nick though. Particularly considering how close he's come in the past 2 years.

Nah. He's just not very good. We're playing them enough. It's the old fashioned model which Parkin used to run and which Geelong run now. A game or two before they're ready. If they progress, a couple more the next year and then if they're good enough they go bang and become senior players from then on. Dempsey, SDK, OConnor, Humphries - these blokes don't get these blocks of games without performance. Our kids just haven't been good enough.

I think their stars are just more unstoppable than ours… Cameron, Danger and Dempsey just can’t be quelled like our good players can at times.

Nick needs another genuine A grader next to him , otherwise opposition teams will double team him as we lack other midfield threats.

A permanent midfield move for the likes of jaicos and beau may mitigate that to a slight extent.

Hope we have some sort of dialogue with butters.

The whole voting system will obviously be discussed (As it should), but well done to Nick on another cracking year, 109 votes in his first 4 years is absolutely insane.

Absolutely stiff not to have won one but fingers crossed it happens eventually. Can’t think of a more deserved winner based on the last three seasons of input.
