Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

After all the posturing and negotiations, where do people think Charlie will end up in 2026 and if he moves, what's the final deal?

Closest to the pin gets to change their name to Nostradamus.

I'll go first.

Swans on a 7 year deal in a 3 club trade with WC netting us Pick 2, a Swans future 1st, Chesser, Dattoli and Florent. Our TDK compo also moves.

If that’s the case then he and his management have also let their narrative spiral out of control.
His management. I'm sure that Charlie isn't overly fazed by it all and being a laid back guy is willing to go if a trade can be done, or willing to stay if nothing happens.

Part of me wants Charlie gone, in a deal we come out on top. Let us take the proceeds and use them on adding some high end youth.

The other part wants to see Charlie back next year; stripped of VC title, no longer the face of junior memberships, ‘marketing allowance’ removed and assigned to someone else.

Just can't see a world where we are trading Curnow for high end picks in Voss's last year of his contract - especially when we've lost top talent like TDK & SOS. The coach (& list manager) need immediate impact otherwise their jobs are goneski.

No TDK, SOS, McGovern, Lemmey (delisted), HOF (injured) AND Curnow would leave us frightfully vulnerable in key position depth and height.

Any trade for mine HAS to involve either Jed Walter + a top pick or Errol Gulden. If they're categorically OFF the table then, we'll see you at pre-season Charlie.

Having Charlie stuck with us in the naughty corner would not be good. If he stays he needs to recommit and be all-in.

I can see a world where we secure strategic picks to sure up the future and internally this is factored into assessment of our expected performance. I think we can replace the likes of TDK and JSOS enough to mitigate the impact anyway but it's how much Curnow himself leaving impacts that becomes the key. We'll need game plan smarts around that.

I understand the emotion, but having someone stay and shaming them for it would be so damaging for the club.

Unless Charlie is fully committed to being his absolute best if he stays, the best outcome is that we trade him. I understand the hardline stance of the club, but I hope we're reading his mindset correctly. If we force him to stay and he truly has checked out then we'll see poor results on-field and a cultural deficit for it, with worse trade value next year and beyond. If he's not going to be committed, trading him even for the best we can get right now is the best outcome, even if it is 2 or 3 high picks and B grade player.

Not that I want that at all mind you, I'd rather he stay and be as committed as Coleman Charlie was, that's the best outcome here. I'm just saying we need to really be sure of his mindset if he's forced to be in navy next year, as ultimately this could be an opportunity to bring in plenty of value for a guy that will just sook it up and not perform if he's kept here.

If he stays he’ll need to pull his finger out, get over it and give it a crack.

But he’ll be starting from the naughty corner.

If a trade falls through - which is a pretty good chance - then Charlie cannot remain in a leadership position and he can’t be the face of the junior memberships and he shouldn’t get any of the additional funds allocated for player marketing.

D'Orazio's telegraghing via the media will end up as a case study in player mismanagement by over-playing his negotiating position
certainly a case study of if it fails the first time (Petracca) maybe doing the same thing again the following year (Charlie) is not the best course of action for a player manager

So its simmered.

TDK, SOS out. Maybe Acres and Gov.

Reidy, Chesser, Buku and maybe Florent in for very little.

Downgrade of upgrade picks to manoeuvre Dean selection and help with Cody next year.

Biggest task was cutting to core off off field culture and rebuilding it, which looks like is happening. The rest is a bonus.

Managing Charlie may now be the biggest task of 2026.
nah, will be so much easier than the untouchable status he seem to have this year.
Next year he will have no leadership role, no currency and no licence on performance.
Good times Charlie. Buckle up.

If a trade can’t be done then it’s on him to turn it around.

I’ve been told he really wants out. Manager looking at all options based on Charlie’s request and prepared to take less money

Issue is if he doesn’t happen this year we could well be doing this again next year

It’s all about satisfying us with a deal that helps make us better. If we get picks they will be packaged with TDK pick for Top 3 pick or traded for players from other clubs plus Dean & Ison who we are very excited about to add to our youth

On this matter I really trust my source. Having said that MS3 may have better info. I don’t know and am not looking for argument or criticising his info. Just passing on what I’m told

Is it the end of the world if we’re doing this again next year?

Future prospects should be a little clearer, we’ll know exactly what we have/need asset wise for Cody Walker.

Plus if Charlie has a big year his value remains similar to what it is now. No player in his situation really sooks up if they have to stay. Gibbs had a huge year, so did Dunkley. Papley decided to stay.

I don’t doubt your info or sources but I’m not sure how much it should matter to the club and its decisions

Any word on why?
