Horrible news.

Makes you wonder if the Rockets now regret trading Cam Whitmore (I understand the reasons for trading Jalen Green)

Well ****. Was literally listening to a Rockets pod over the weekend that was talking about the Rockets lack of guard depth.

Need Amen to come back with a cleaner handle now more than ever and hope that Sheppard & Holiday can support enough to get us through the first couple of months of the season.

Well that ****ing sucks.

Re Whitmore I don't think this would have made any difference, sounds like Ime had enough of his poor attitude.

Even though weak at guard I don't see them rushing into anything. Rest of the squad is strong enough to give Reed and Amen the keys and see how it goes until January. Then see what moves can be made around the deadline, as shit as it is probably with FVV involved. I'm sure they'll sign a vet PG to a minimum contract at some point.

Not sure if a positive but thought FVV was poor most of the regular season and overplayed so hopefully means the loss won't be noticeable. Was good in playoffs though.

FVV was the only player who knew how to run an offence. When he is out we look like we are playing pick up b-ball. Hopefully it happening so early means we can spend the rest of the preseason drilling set up offence into Amen and Reed. Ime gonna be like a college coach calling out plays every trip up the floor this year.

If Houston dont pick up Westbrook they deserve to miss the playoffs.

Dont be dumb and just do it

I don't think Ime would want to coach someone like Russ tbh

Not sure Westbrook is a fit for them at all, even as a break-glass option.

Sengun, Adams, Capela, Thompson - too many non-shooters already. They'll run a lot of their offence through Sengun and Durant anyway, in which case you ideally want a PG who is non-ball dominant, can hit the outside shot, and is a solid defender - Westbrook ticks none of those boxes.

Ben Simmons would be a better fit for the Rockets than Russ imo

Dunno if that should happen either.

However the timing of VanVleet's injury is so bad, it's not out of the realms of possibility that either could be signed. It'd be a Hail Mary though, and they'd know it. It sucks particularly because it wastes a year of Durant, having given up a bit to get him in, and he may not have many left.

I honestly feel Durant will play into his 40s like Lebron.

Neither Simmons or Westbrook would be a good fit. Needs to be a shooter.

We also can't sign anyone at the moment.

I'm kinda surprised you didn't get on the phone to Monte Morris, who signed a matter of hours later with the Pacers.

Perhaps the hard cap proximity played a part here too, which sucks again.

Add in all the guys on new contracts that can't be moved pre-December 15th I think it's only Durant, Sengun, Thompson, Eason & Sheppard we can trade currently.

Yeah that's tough, I remember you were right around your cap in July.

Good news is that the Pacers voided Morris's contract due to a calf injury, so you might be able to pick him up in Dec/Jan if you make some kind of trade then, health willing. Not ideal, but he's miles better than other emergency options.

All of it just makes the Capela signing even stranger.
