Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I’ve been told he really wants out. Manager looking at all options based on Charlie’s request and prepared to take less money

Issue is if he doesn’t happen this year we could well be doing this again next year

I'd be OK with Charlie 'doing a Gibbs'.

He suits up for Carlton, has a great year and pumps up his trade value back to the max.

Edit: what Tjblues said...

Did anyone see the tik tok Sam walsh just posted on the Carlton tik tok?

Tour of Chelsea soccer club with frnak the tank, Fogarty, cow, cotters in tow

But I could have sworn there was paddy Dow and an Adam cerra look a like were there too

Paddy come back?

Was living in Walsh's house with a couple of the other boys. Perhaps that's it, of they are still friends.

Not sure I would be. I think we get him out at the first realistic/decent trade offer.
For someone who's just 'open to trades but ok to stay' he seems to be out talking with players at other clubs quite a bit.
Gibbs loved the club and only wanted to move back home for his wife and was the ultimate professional.
Somehow I doubt Charlie has the mettle for that.

I think people need to seriously temper their expectations on what we'll get back for Charlie. And the talk of letting him rot in the twos is absolute idiocy and I'm glad some of you don't run the club.
Have you seen how well we’ve gone over the last 30 years brother? Maybe we’d be better with some big footy posters running the club

Why should we weaken our team whilst strengthening others who are competing for flags. He has a contract & if we don’t get overs he stays and he can well rot in the seconds until he pulls his ****ing head in and commits that he will play out his days in navy blue

But that isn't even remotely a 'cull of dead wood'

Curnow is a duel Coleman medallist in his prime. TDK, Silvagni, Kennedy are good players in their prime. So is Jack Martin who needs to be physically managed, but will play in a grand final in 2 days time. Hollands is good and young. Owies and Cincotta 'would have kept yhem'.

Carroll and Durdin = meh, but mature and solid and you need some solid reserves.

Basically, if you are losing Marchbank and Cunningham, and Docherty to retirement to injury you desperately need to hang onto your other 25-28 year old players and ideally add some replacements or risk tipping the team from contention back into a rebuild.

Which is exactly what we have done. It is mismanagement, pure and simple.
Dead wood if you struggle to get on the park for multiple seasons.

We'll have to see, and neither you nor I know who we're bringing in this off season....

TDK's lame/tame/lazy efforts this season probably cost us finals.... Silvagni injured for a big chunk (again).

Carroll and Durdin - fringe players at best. Meh.

Marchy, Cuners - did anyone else pick them up? Cheap to a good home...

Martin - a huge fan, amazing player when fit.... he played 54 games for us in 5 seasons...i would have retained him personally (out of all the perennially injured types)

Newman and Smith were big losses pre season. It was apparent Smith would have had a significant impact straight up... Kemp too, then Harry's personal woes.... it's the sum of many parts, right?

With TDK in disinterest mode, our midfield suffered, let alone with Cripps down in form, Cerra's running (hammy related?) was way off and Walsh out a lot (and played when he probably shouldn't...).

I do admit the SF situation is embarrassing - Frankie came good at the end, but a guy like Fantasia should never have been acquired....

The mismanagement I saw related to the coaching group - a failure in getting the players to a level where they could execute basic skills and a very one dimensional game plan....

A big NO to Liam Jones
His time has come and gone
Burnt his bridges well and truly after he left
If we’re trying to change the culture around the place, embracing a guy who openly potted the club isn’t the way to go about it.
Bullshit, we burned our bridges with him by not supporting his decision to not get a vaccine… we were spineless along with the other 17 clubs rather than backing in our man to make his own health choices

It's 2025.

This sort of thing is common. Yeah, WE don't like it because we're old (school), but there's nothing wrong with it.

It's the off season for him. Has mates in most other clubs who they don't associate with much during the year.

Hanging out with oppo players should have ZERO bearing on whether we trade Charlie or not.

All the so called stars of the game are encouraged by their 'managers' to pool resources and partner up into business 'ventures' with opposition players in the same management circle 'trust me' I'm your manager and financial guru- because "I'm your manager'...LOL

these idjot children deserve everything they cop in their long after life of 'football'.

Odd that there was no genuine interest in Motlop.
Because he doesn't do anything good small forwards do, doesn't get front and centre and create oppurtunistic goals and when he gets the ball its much more likely he will over commit himself and get caught holding the ball than to make space and create.

4 years in its about all were going to get from him, less than 5% chance he becomes anything irreplacable
