The Mariners are currently on track to claim the AL West as they lead the Rockies 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning at T-Mobile Park. A Mariners win or an Astros loss (playing later today away to the Athletics) would seal the pennant for the Mariners.

The Reds are currently trailing the Pirates 4-3 in the bottom of the 11th with two out and two on.

In the AL East, the Blue Jays and the Yankees are now tied after Toronto lost to Boston and the Yankees defeated the White Sox, but the Blue Jays have the head-to-head tiebreaker should the two teams finish tied after the regular season.

The Guardians now lead the Tigers by one game, and hold the tiebreaker over the Tigers, so effectively to win the division, the Tigers would need to avoid the sweep and hope the Guardians lose at least one more game between now and the end of the season.

The Tigers currently lead the Astros by 0.5 games, with the Astros losing to the Athletics this afternoon.

Ohtani becomes the closer. He closed in the WBC. I don't think Kershaw has ever come out of the bullpen in his professional career (without looking it up). Relieving requires a different mindset to starting games.

It's going to get messy with ohtani- as a reliever. I am pretty sure the WBC rules are slightly different to the MLB rules with the pitcher.

If ohtani comes on as a reliever late in the game,say the 8th or 9th,and the games ends up going into extras innings, the only way we can have ohtani as batter is we play him in the outfield .

Hasn't done that during his dodger career, wouldn't want to start that in the playoffs.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this Detroit franchise has given up and finish the season with 12 straight losses. Holy moly is this a choke of epic proportions

Dave Roberts has admitted that he's considering using Ohtani out of the bullpen. He's said no such thing about Kershaw.

Dave Roberts said the Dodgers have talked about Shohei Ohtani pitching out of the bullpen in the playoffs. As for playing in the outfield, as Ohtani said Tuesday he would be willing to do, Roberts said that won't happen.
