Rachele's in the middle of a 6 year contract and his best mate plays for the Crows. Can't see him have any interest moving to a Melbourne about to undergo a rebuild whilst Adelaide have just entered contention.

Player has to agree.

Which is why Trac won’t go to Crows. Can’t expect a 1.7m player , 2nd in BnF for a pick 20.

They are going to historically fumble this and get cooked in there midfield next year.

So we now know Petracca landed on the Gold Coast this afternoon. Weather predicted to be sunny and 30 degrees tomorrow on the GC after spending a few days in rainy 16 degree Adelaide. Couldn't be a better example of the lifestyle difference between the two cities.
Was sunny and in the 20s Monday when he came over.

A bit of chatter on the Hawks board that he toured Dingley last week (if that’s useful) and has already met with several senior players. My guess is that it’s far easier to keep the media out of private property in suburban Melbourne than it is travelling through an airport.

That’s not to say he’ll nominate us or we could execute a deal though but given Merrett is no guarantee I would be extremely surprised if Hawthorn had already given up on him, especially as we (along with Coll and Carl) were one of his targets last year.
Think we will know end of this week or next Monday at the latest, his decision won't drag on to see what Merrett does.

Obviously it's not enough but their midfield was good enough to win the minor premiership. They're hardly getting 'cooked', more like they shit the bed under the pressure of finals.

Expect to see Curtin move into the midfield more and dominate, like he did in juniors. If Rankine can keep his mouth shut also, that'll go a long way to making them more competitive at the pointy end.

Yup keep saying it doesnt mean shit if it happens

I think the main dilemma here is the reality of what todays petracca is, not what he used to be

Melbourne will come to the trade table with the mindset they are trading a petracca who is at his peak, while the teams who are chasing him most likely believe while he is still valuable, he is 30 and no longer in the top echelon of midfielders. Has been on the decline since the injury

Draper waiting in the wings as well.

People have short memories. We shat the bed in finals (quite literally, as much of our squad was ill) but we also won 18 games with an average losing margin of 10 points. We also smacked Gold Coast by ten goals.

Means little now of course but our season has been whitewashed by our poor finals series.

Adelaides response about Rachele is typical afl club. Always wanting something for nothing. I don't know why they culture is rather trade picks than players
This is the culture the AFL and the rules have created as clubs have no power to trade players whenever and wherever they want.

It's been like this forever and a day. If Melbourne would prefer him off their books and he only wants to go to one destination, more often than not its below market value and for picks only.

I think its more the inroads GC has made this year as a Club and the Dimma effect. I imagine Christian will want to play where he can have the greatest chance of success which on face value is 50/50.

Adelaide is a football town (and great food culture) and we have 4 seasons; no offence but I prefer to live here.

The knock on Adelaide IMO is not the list which is very, very good, it’s the coach. His performance in both finals was deplorable. But the Crows definitely have an extremely talented and young list.

I do love you!

In an entirely internet and community way, not in a disturbing stalky way though

Oh I still think our midfield needs work.

It’s not as dire as some suggest though.

Our coaches sadly panicked and went to old names when things went bad vs you and the Pies.

Your clubs about to blow a Petracca coup because they wont give anything decent up for him. Maybe aim your angst at Crows head office.

Will be a laugh when it happens. Imagine coming out guns blazing saying you’re interested only to turn around and try offer up peanuts.

Like walking into a Ferrari shop with $40, you will be laughed out the door.

Wierd post!

How often does any club trade a player for another player.

Normally picks are used, which makes it easier for players to change clubs.

Sounds like you don’t have cap space the way your fans are going on about his 1.7m salary
Not an issue, given we offered NWM big money.

We wouldn't even be meeting with Petracca if we couldn't afford him.
