I did the points matches with two picks back a bit based on current points and 10% discount for outside the top 8.I think the system will be what he tweeted. Just not the picks needed because Jon can't do math.![]()

Is Roibert any relation to Zoidberg?2025 Roibert Walls trophy winner Dunkley? i guess also 3 time premiership winner Dunkley?
There is no reason for him to attend the combine or interview with any club, he has already secured a spot on an AFL listWell he can be totally upfront and professional in his interviews with other clubs and inform them that he has absolutely no interest in playing/performing for them at all and that he would immediately seek a clearance at the completion of season one.
Those clubs would be well advised to concentrate their time and resources on other willing talent.
This of course probably wouldnāt be breaking news to any other clubs but would allow everyone to go about their business with a clear understanding of the realities at play.
And before we hear the cries of draft tampering, l think that most in football circles are well aware that this practice is pretty much accepted as commonplace and widespread these days ā¦
Anyways it was stated to be released at the same time as all the other new rules, the fact it hasn't does suggest it isn't finalised/push back.I think the system will be what he tweeted. Just not the picks needed because Jon can't do math.![]()

nahDo we think the AFL will release the new rules today? Before free agency begins tommorrow?
Its a significant change in a very short period of timeGW and CD come across as astute operators who will not take any shit.
I'd be very surprised if they, among a host of other clubs haven't pushed back on the "can only use 2 picks to match" nonsense.
It's more that it throws up scenarios that may be unintendedIts a significant change in a very short period of time

That, and the fact the list management is planned years in advance thereby throwing out planned for strategies etcIt's more that it throws up scenarios that may be unintended

Watching Cal Twomey last night explain that if the Blues want to pick Cody Walker next year they will need 2 first rounder to do it and that the bid for Dean is likely to come inside our TDK compo it sounds like a no brainer to trade this year pick 10 for a future firstWe won't be going to draft with TDK pick
This idea would never work. All clubs are fully aware that Walker is a gun. He can talk up āI donāt want to go anywhere but Carltonā but it will have no effect. Carlton will get Walker but the price will have to be paid.Iād agree he doesnāt need to attend the combine but attending interviews with certain placed clubs could certainly help his/our cause.
He would need to leave those clubs in absolutely no doubt that selecting him would be futile and ultimately a waste of their time and resources !!
Correct. Its a strategy for another year and another player perhaps, but Walker is pretty close to a sure thing already so clubs aren't going to take too fondly to him trying to deliberately tank his stocks I'd think. This idea would never work. Doesnt need to tank his stocks. Just needs to do enough to slide a couple of spots. More importantly not go pick 1 as that's the only bid we might not be able to match.Correct. If he doesn't engage with clubs likely to have that pick or tells them he will request a trade to Carlton if they pick him. That should be enough to avoid a bid, so long as there is another player thereabouts the club can pick instead.

There is not a hope in hell this would work. If selected by another club heād be tied to them for 3 years. Therefore Carlton will need to raise enough capital to match pick 1 or 2.Doesnt need to tank his stocks. Just needs to do enough to slide a couple of spots. That would mean we would get the top 2 pick next yr another gun plus walker I'd take that10 + 11 + 24 + Gov for WCE F1 + 36 + Chesser
JHF got traded after year 1. Also, loads of players have slid over the years using similar tactics. It wouldn't be new. There is not a hope in hell this would work. If selected by another club heād be tied to them for 3 years. Therefore Carlton will need to raise enough capital to match pick 1 or 2.

They do want more top 10s this year reportedly. I wonder if they consider an F1 swap. Reduces their risk vs trading out of the 2026 first round completely.Depending on the cost involved for matching a Walker bid at Pick 2, we might genuinely be better off taking him ourselves with Pick 1 and then being able to use our natural first rounder on a second player (at a guess, Pick 5-10 somewhere).
I'm also on board with targeting the future WC first rather than Pick 2 this year, for what it's worth. As above, take Walker with it, or shop it for a stupid package of picks that match the Walker bid with change.
That being said, I think it also holds significantly more value for WC as well, so I think someone would have to make them a very good offer for them to part with the future first instead of one of this year's.
100% I remember Dunks having similar profile as a draftee - even drafted in a similar range (mid second rounder from memory, or early 20s at best). Laughing if he develops that well. Fraser has a big but exciting job.Should model himself on Dunkley
