Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
Flanders going to the SaintsTrac chose the Suns lol.
You do the Flanders deal separately if you are Melbourne?
Surely clubs target Humphrey
if we avoid every gun because of things we have no idea about and deemed too risky, then we will never amount to much compared to the teams that do take the risk, Melbourne are clearly looking to rebuild and think throwing out Trac & Oliver will yield them 2 x first round picks, clubs have the upper hand here given they want them out.Too great a risk for me.

As I said in my post, the trade will largely be about the contract. If Dees are paying a large portion of his contract they will want something decent in return.
Five years ago people were saying Tex was cooked too and then he went and turned in to an AA player. He’s young enough that he can turn things around, his age shouldn’t be holing him back at this point.
Even if we have to carry Oliver for the last 1-2 years of his contract, at $600k that’s not overly prohibitive. We’ve been paying that much for the last 5 years to have Treloar and Grundy play against us. It’s a medium risk high reward play and I think we probably need to take a few risks to stay contenders at this point given our poor draft hand.
Oliver's salary is about $1.3-$1.4m.A few people on here are writing that we would need to pay $700k for year for Oliver.
It’s been reported that Melbourne are actually willing to pay up to $700k per year for him to be off the books. That means a club could be getting him for somewhere closer to $300k. That’s a steal and I couldn’t see why we wouldn’t risk it. If we cut him, the financial obligation wouldn’t be too huge.
I’m not talking about “every gun.”if we avoid every gun because of things we have no idea about and deemed too risky, then we will never amount to much compared to the teams that do take the risk, Melbourne are clearly looking to rebuild and think throwing out Trac & Oliver will yield them 2 x first round picks, clubs have the upper hand here given they want them out.
5 years is nothing to be worried about these days and if the price is 700k you will do that in a heartbeat, Pies have a good culture, big crowds and better environment / support, there would be just as many troublemakers in the game with much less profile than Oliver, it's just not news!
GET IT DONE
Happy with Buller, Blight & Oliver + The Kids for this trade/draft, if Bobby does leave then buckle up
They're pushing him out the door, and basically told him his services are no longer required. Melbourne are not going to expect much in return, more likely a future 2nd at best...As I said in my post, the trade will largely be about the contract. If Dees are paying a large portion of his contract they will want something decent in return.
We could have N Daicos, J Daicos, DeGoey, Oliver, McCreery going through the midfield. I'm not sure Long plays if Oliver does...If we needed more motivation to get Clarry, let’s look at the Suns midfield… Rowell, Anderson & Petracca.
We can’t have Nick against them.
Now that Trac has chosen GC I wonder what wheels may move for all clubs concerned. Spose we’ll find out about our player movements after tonight at minimal. It wasn’t impossible because we had a set of circumstances which worked out in our favour to get a deal done and we still paid a lot
Given we have at least 2 players we’ll need points for and no contracted players leaving to leverage with, yes, getting Bailey Humphrey would be impossible
I don’t think Long will be losing too much sleep. We could have N Daicos, J Daicos, DeGoey, Oliver, McCreery going through the midfield. I'm not sure Long plays if Oliver does...
Given the past 3 years they’ve had and that he wanted to stay it’s a strange one, but I’m more curious about why they’re prioritising others ahead of him. My guess is they’re leaning into a re-tool ahead of Tasmania’s entry and wanted to cash in by paying such a large chunk of his salary. Their handling of it all has seen it blow up in their face. It’s odd that Melbourne would tell the best clearance player of the past decade that he’s not needed.
Like us in 2020 but with less gaslighting.Given the past 3 years they’ve had and that he wanted to stay it’s a strange one, but I’m more curious about why they’re prioritising others ahead of him.
