Doubtful.
Doesn’t the formula also involve B&F finishes and other accolades? Not sure if he has featured anywhere in Carlton’s top 5 in their B&F. Turns 28 in December.

The formula is a mix of things, but the main parameters are the size of the new contract. So bigger the better, l gather!!
The age is factored in and the receiving clubs draft position....

I'll never understand players having a preference for one club one year, then another the next

What changed in that year?

How does Trac go from wanting to play for Collingwood - the team he barracked for, has mates at, trains next door to where he trains right now (so his life doesn't have to change at all), to wanting to uproot his entire life to play for Gold Coast?

Why wasn't it Gold Coast last year? if "weather" is a reason, that didn't change in there last year. If "escaping the bubble" is the reason, that also hasn't changed in the last year

Always find that stuff odd

It is odd, but it also helped us snag Bobby Hill so not complaining just yet

That was slightly different no?

Essendon allegedly pulled out of that deal didn't they and decided they didn't want to go ahead (correct me if I'm wrong)

As far as I'm aware we wanted Trac. Still probably would want him now.

I’m confused, no one on here wanted Petracca 2 weeks ago. Told us he was finished/washed up….. But now Sun will win the flag/finish top 2 with him?

I’d counter by asking how is it that people still don’t understand the power of the manager in 2025? The manager plays a massive role in guiding the players exit from a club and it’s never as simple as “I like club A so let’s go there”.

Specifically on Petracca. We don’t have the same circumstances as last year which allowed us to pursue Houston, GC has plenty of currency to make it a smooth move and perhaps we went cold on him. The first two are the remit of the manager to be across they get so involved these days that they build the trade in some circumstances.

Situations change. Perhaps he knows that Collingwood don't have the currency to get a trade done. Perhaps last year rumours were just that. Maybe he wants to go to a team that he thinks will challenge for 5 years (both Adelaide and gold coast are young and good). Maybe he wants to get out of Melbourne. People on here read a rumour and get over excited then disappointed when it fizzles. The majority of what we're hearing/reading now are just that, bs rumours designed to get interactions. FWIW I think we're better off with Oliver than Petracca, and perhaps have the ability to do that one.

Pretty sure it’s likely because we told him we weren’t interested.

Also heard on the radio it also depends on the size of the FA contract offers. TDK is the outlier, that will demand high compensation, but if Silvagni’s contract is similar to other FAs then it balances out
