Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

And their picks are not worth much especially if they get Curnow. Can't see how they get it done.

They can get it done by helping us get a major trade done with a third team.

Otherwise, unlikely.

Yeah but they'll still need to give up good players or picks to get that done, which they dont have.
Agree our best trading partner was always Gold Coast even more so with Humphrey considering his options, Sydney is a long way in front of Geelong as our 2nd best option.
Charlie must accept he needs to go where we can strike the best deal.

Geelong won't make a fair offer. Even if by some miracle they get the currency, they will try get Charlie for unders. Look at Mackie's history. Becomes pretty obvious.

They aren't offering any deal that involves Holmes. Delusional to think so.

All we do by even allowing Geelong in the conversation is lose time, and the risk Sydney pulls the plug. Which I suspect is their strategy. Run time down and hope we panic.

We should straight up tell Geelong that they do not have the currency and we won't be engaging further

And we should tell Charlie's management that under no circumstances will he be traded to Geelong. If he wants us to consider a move he must select a club that has high levels of trade currency.

Alternatively, having Geelong in the background may get Sydney to the table to throw out a better offer.

A KPF and CC is their priority. We’ll see how much and how creative they can get.

I dont think it does that. Sydney won't ramp up talks unless Charlie choses them. Geelong being in the hunt puts that on hold.

We can't send him to Sydney just because they're offering the best deal. Their offer is irrelevant unless Charlie chooses them.

They're doing a fantastic job spending overa on mid career players who haven't got the runs on the board to justify the massive contracts they're handing out.

They've done an amazing job of failing to communicate their plans to Rohan Marshall who believed TDK was there to replace him.

They've done a great job on showing their list what loyalty and regularly being a club's most consistent player gets you in the long run.

They're bringing in some great players. And they'll have a honeymoon period. However, they have no chance at a premiership and after this year they'll have spent their fortune and will lack ability to really build on the quality of their list.

They will make finals. If that's their long term aim, which I've been told before it is because they need that to sell continued hope to their members, then good on them for potentially delivering a product that can do that. However, personally 1966 feels as far away from their scope as it ever has.
Some of their younger players will be disillusioned by the influx of high paying mercenaries and the fact the club boned the captain. That really shows loyalty to the playing group right there.

All about Charlie not getting the right delivery. 🤣

Maybe Charlie should be kept.

I mean Wright hasn’t recruited a single player yet, so we have to first see if one of his recruits can deliver the ball to Charlie. :)

Geelong board ITK suggesting that things are more advanced in private then they appear.

Other posters suggesting that Mackie's comments suggest that it's up to Carlton to court whichever player we want to try and make a deal happen. Could be third party.

Mackie playing it well, problem is, we’re not selling. You want, you deal for contracted star and don’t bother unless you have a star coming our way plus two first for the 4 year contract.

The thing is trading Curnow for unders doesnt help us get Cody or Humphrey's or move up the draft or anything else. If we get offered unders better off keeping him.

Even if he sooked it up next year and we trade him, we probably still get more then Geelong have currently got to offer.

Definitely!
Gotta be a deal that strongly benefits us, or it doesn’t happen imo

Whichever way you cut it Geelong will need to give up something of significant value which is unlikely.

Still believe he will end up in Sydney.

Dusty was only a burst mid very late in his career and while being a 95 kg ball of muscle, so that comparison is aiming a bit low aerobically given Humphrey won't be able to run through blokes the same way.

Probably not going to be a 30 disposal mid ever, really.

That kind of line drawing reminds me of when I compared LDU's ceiling pre-draft to a late career Judd, which is and was far more apt.

I'd only take Humphrey over a single top 15ish player in this draft, and I'd only start doing that at pick 8 onwards, but then you have to consider his contract weighing him down compared to the talent pool.

For all the sense of physicality and spectacular moments, the production just isn't there. He's already having knee issues from his style of play.
Bro what????
