No idea. I haven't really looked into any of the academy kids.Would you change your mind on who we pick at 3 or 4 if let’s say Patterson was up for grabs

They’ll easily get their academy kids.Sounds like that’s exactly what they are doing. Probably ends up being a question of Humphrey vs Patterson and change, which may be why he made the comments he did.
Interesting situation with a new coach & petracca has tried to leave now 2wice that's been reported. Would they let him go a bit cheaper to give the coach a clean slate, so they can move forward? They are going to need to cough up picks to get Petracca.
Unless they part ways with more than just Flanders there is a very good chance they won’t have enough after the Petracca transaction

Flanders gets them #7 which let’s say goes to Demons for Trac.
Then they get picks for Budarick (20’s) and Ainsworth (30’s). And will swap pick #6 for multiple picks worth way more points form Bummers or Blues. They’ll have points to spare.
Possibly if they believe their high End talent is sufficient but they need to strengthen what is around them to take the next step? but only guessing TBH...Forgive my ignorance, why would GC bypass a top 3-4 talent to take 3 20-30 talents?
Who would be happy if we traded pick 3 for 25, 28 and 30 lol

I don’t doubt that. They also have 2 years of future pick to play with. The thing I paid attention to were the comments from Patterson.
Even though he’s got limited media training, they are very odd comments to make about the club that has supported your development for years and that you’re likely to be drafted to if there’s a good chance that’s going to happen.
Something like I’m happy to go anywhere but would love the opportunity to repay their investment in me etc etc.
No NGA/academy kid in recent memory has ever said anything like what he did. Watch this space.
Maybe, they have supported him yes, but he likely has worked hard to get to where he is? I don't have a problem with his honesty myself, just says if GC don't take him he's determined to succeed...I don’t doubt that. They also have 2 years of future pick to play with. That's at least 2 players who have indicated a desire to leave their club... and not for the first time. For the sake of unity etc time to grant their wishes I I would think. Last thing I'd want as an incumbent coach is players not invested?Possibly!
Maybe not to the extent of how they are pushing Oliver out the door but yeah maybe they relax a bit on the return.
No current season stats available
If Eagles are looking to get GC pick 6 (7 after Allan compo) there's no way your going to shaft Gold Coast from getting their academy players by bidding early.
Eagles current picks 16, 22 & 23 that will be 17, 23 & 24 after Allan compo. That's what it's going to take to get pick 6 (7) from Gold Coast and you then won't bid with picks 1 & 2. I have no doubt about it.
23 is off to Lions for Starcevich but if we get pick 7 from them yes there is no way we’ll bid on their academy players this year or in the foreseeable future.
That will be an unspoken (or spoken) part of the deal.
You’re forgetting picks theyll get for Budarick and Ainsworth. They’ll romp it in.The Suns have enough points to match bids for Uwland and Patterson providing the pick they get for Flanders is enough to satisfy the Dees for Petracca, they will however go into a bit of deficit next year.
What is looking likely is that they wont have enough points to match Addinsal, Coulson or Collins.
If Patterson and Uwland are as good as touted, there’s zero chance GC won’t match any bids.If West Coast picked Patterson number one, that would get Gold Coast thinking
Why would West coast do this??
West Coast they do not have his type and think he will not depart, assuming they get the other pick they can pick whoever else.
this is where it is interesting. would Gold Coast match at one, possibly not as Zeik have to be right up their and I think more likely to match as some rate him higher and brother at the club
greater chance CDT slips to Bombers but maybe not.
Imagine is West Coast got Patterson and then Sharp, that would be a bloody interesting combination. probably allow Harley Reid to roam a bit more
Don't they need an adequate number of vacant list spots to take on all of those picks?15,17,18,23,36,38 = 3,935 points. The Flanders pick would probably go to Melbourne for Petracca, plus who knows what Ainsworth & Budarick might get them if a suitor can be found.
IMO if they take his entire contract then #7 is more than enough. He’s past his best and nearly 30yo… and on $1.2m/year for 4 more years I think. On Petracca it’s the what’s he worth to the suns piece though.
He is contracted too.
If suns think he is the difference between a semi and a prelim / gf, they will pay up and dees will know this and push hard I reckon.
On the deficit stuff, I think there is a limit on how much deficit you can go into?
Yeah true, makes me think you guys bidding on their academy players even less likely.
Pick 7 is 1543 points, picks 17 & 23 is 1532 points and pick 24 (621 points) to the Lions for Starcevich.
Will the Eagles throw pick 38 to the Gold coast as well? Kind sucks if you do, as that's what a lot of us were hoping we would get for Young. TBH i thought it would be your pick in the 50's for Young.
Anyway, pick 38 is 277 points so pick 7 for 17,23 & 38 could be on the cards.
Gold Coast would end up with picks
15,17,18,23,36,38 = 3,935 points. The Flanders pick would probably go to Melbourne for Petracca, plus who knows what Ainsworth & Budarick might get them if a suitor can be found.
They’re already falling off … Budarick, Ainsworth, Flanders … total salaries probably $1.6m / season.well yes, but a couple have to fall off the other end of the GC cart if Petracca is coming in too
worth thinking about, e.g. maybe a gentleman's agreement that we don't bid at 3,4 and in return we get a good deal on a GC discard?
Clubs will come with bigger ‘overs’ for pick-7.I think that’s the plan 17,23,38 for 7. Hopefully get Cumming or Schubert with that pick.
I know literally nothing about Young, but 57 will come in after bid matches and should cover you for Kellaway.
STK are offering a F3 for Liam Ryan. Cheap ****ers.
Clubs will come with bigger ‘overs’ for pick-7.
Obviously there’s a lot to shake out, but I think you’ll need to give more than 17,23,38. Carlton and Bombers your biggest dangers to offer more points.
