Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

If you’ve got a contract to play AFL at the same club as your brother and you’re on thin ice and the club tells you to explore your options, why do anything.

We have two options, keep him or delist him, if we delist him, he then explores his options.

I’m not seeing why Loj or his management would be pushing hard for any deal to get done

Cause he probably plays twos only and then delisted and that hurts his chances of another contract.

Why not take a two or three year deal now on reduced money from someone else.

If you look at the seating map that Aph posted, there's one table right down the back near the dunnies that's reserved for players.... fair bet.

Of course the club would let them attend. No one at Carlton is going to begrudge TDK or SOS for leaving for literally millions of dollars more. They both expressed their love for Carlton on the way out and I assume they’re all still going to be mates.

Shunning them from the B&F is something a shit club like St Kilda would do.

Interesting take, Butters is exactly what we need now, speed, ball winning ability, aggression, ball use, the whole package of what he would bring no one on our list has. I could be wrong, but Jagga I suspect does not have the break away, line breaking speed Butters has and he alone would make us a top 8 side overnight IMO.

I completely get what you’re saying. He’s a top player in the comp, no doubt (and I could be wrong on this as I have been many times). I just don’t know if we should go down the path of massively overpaying for someone we might already be able to cover across the park. Between Walsh, Jagga, and Walker (all speculative, I know), I’d really rather see us balance the list and focus on playing a stronger system.

Jagga hasn't played a game yet. You don't pass up on a player like Butters because you think Jagga may end up as good as him one day no matter how promising he looks.

Yeah, I agree, mate, but what I’m really getting at is that it would literally take a mountain in both picks and salary cap space to get him. I just don’t think we should go down that route. I’d much rather we bring in Walker and build around players who can play within a proper modern system.
If we go after Butters, in my eyes it’s almost a boom-or-bust move. I think we need a couple of years to bleed these good young kids in and then go again. For the record, if I thought Port wouldn’t match next year, I’d be all in and happy to pay the salary cap.

Very much possible but did find it interesting that Austin mentioned they would look to get deals for Khamis, Chesser and Reidy done early on in the week and then said they would "focus on where we can pivot to after that - there's a lot that to play out in trade period as you know and things can happen quite quickly". Maybe I'm imagining it but felt like he was trying his best to hide a grin as well
